Help me choose a good budget laptop.

Ok guys, it's that time again. Time for Frag to switch everything up and recoop some cash. First, my primary reasoning behind wanting to ditch my desktop for a laptop is my inability to game over my satellite net connection. Why do I need a beast arse compy like that so I can surf the intarweb? I just don't need it, and there's some good money to be made out of those pieces in that thing before it all goes out of style.

Anyhow, let's get the search criteria down for what I need...

*Must have a C2D, no questions asked.

*Minimum of 1gb memory, preferably 2gb.

*DVD+RW is a must

*Video Card - Something better than the Intel GMA onboard.

*Preferably 17" screen, 15.4" will do if the price and other specs are right.

*Memory card reader

*Any OS, I have a legit copy of Vista Business I'll probably put on it.

*Maximum price = $1000

Brands that I've had the best luck with in the past include: Toshiba, Lenovo, Sony, Apple, and Dell.

Let the suggestions begin!

Oh yeah, thanks in advance for all of your help :)

Just spotted this on eBay...

That's what I'd really love to get my hands on. This one has just about everything I want, small HD is the only drawback. 2.5gb of RAM in it, wifi, sxga screen, core duo.

Well with the buy it now its a dam good price. And you could probably pick up a 12/60GB drive with the difference between that and the toshiba. Extra ram ftw with vista tbh.

I think I've definitely made the decision that I want a T60, a brand new one from Lenovo directly that I can get with an x1400 for light gaming.

That's sad to hear mate. I have never had anything but the best of luck with Thinkpad's. In fact I think so highly of them despite your comment I still want one :p
