Help me choose a case! :)

Hi guys, I've been out of the hardware cycle for waaaaaaay too long, I don't even know what's about now! :(

Anyways, Christmas has been and gone and I'm now looking for a new case for my system. It needs to be full ATX for my Crosshair V but I'd like it to be as small as possible! I want it to look classy but most importantly be near silent without sacrificing performance (airflow).

Throw some suggestions at me! Any reviews you could back it up with would be fantastic :)

ODD aren't needed either!

Corsair 450D, I'm sat less than 500mm from mine and it's near silent even with 7 fans running.

Near Silent, Look Classy, Small for an ATX case... I'm going to play a curveball Corsair 550D

The only thing they aren't great for is clearance above the motherboard, no chance of a fat AIO but enough for a H100i and they don't have a window stock but they are nicely built and appointed cases. The last of the discrete button opening side panel era.

Nzxt H440, all fans on 7 volts, it is so quiet.

Good call sir, I'd forgotten about those!

Hmm, not sure about the obsidian series, are you running an aio?

It's a tad too expensive for me at the moment, I'm still a student! :D Any thoughts on the 330R? looks to be much of the same without a window?

I've never actually seen a 330R, I know they did a Titanium edition too that's very reasonably priced. Presumably it's quite closely related to the 450D, could be a good option. Corsair have the 230T as well in the compact ATX size, they look rather fetching in orange/grey. They aren't excessive but the H440/Air 540/Enthoo are certainly larger cases. Sorry for overshooting the budget, where abouts are you aiming?

I'm looking around the £90 tops mark, could go a bit over but want to buy a new cooler too! :)

I run the stock fans on 7 volts and that works just fine, but yeah if you have a couple of fans laying around, why not.

It doesnt have sound proofing like the h440 or fractal R5, but with slow speed fans you should be able to get close to a silent rig anyways. Keep in mind though, the cpu or gpu fan could still make quite a bit of noise when gaming.

I think fractal need to bring out a Node 904 or something along those lines that would have been my recommendation if it existed! I think corsair missed a trick with the Air series of cases, if they had a brushed aluminum front and were dual width so you could get the H series coolers in the second side like my case they would be great. But the cheap shitty plastic just looks rancid.

I know it doesn't have any at the moment :) I meant do you have any experience with the soundproofing 'kits' you can get?

Agreed :) Love fractal stuff but there's always one glaring fault that stops me buying :/
