Hi guys need a hand looking at a mates laptop for him initially he tried changing the motherboard because the mouse on the laptop wouldn't work but he forgot to tighten the cpu socket so managed to fix that issue but the mouse still wasn't working.

So problem is the mouse trackpad does not function at all and the keyboard seems to work in the bios but not in windows. I have tried plugging in a USB mouse it powers on but cursor still doesn't move. Tried booting into windows installation from disc keyboard work but mouse still doesn't

Bit stuck as to what is the issue with it.

To start with, was the ribbon for the track pad seated in its slot correctly and firmly when the motherboard was replaced?

Is the pointer device feature enabled? By enabled I mean has the function key (FN + F12) combo been pressed at all?

double checked the ribbon and also fitted a new trackpad still the same does nothing, it doesnt work in bios or anywhere and why would a faulty trackpad stop a USB mouse from working? Is it a motherboard issue?
