HELP! Is my mobo or my CPU dead?

BaD CrC

Fired up my first GT rig tonight.

Connect everything, switched on PSU, got the green light on the P4C800 Dlx.

Pushed the ON button, got the GT went from standby to running. Temperature went down nicely. At -50C, it switched on the computer. All peripherals went on, fans running, watercooling running but nothing on the screen.

Reset the PC once, screen went on this time but with 'BIOS checksum error...starting BIOS recovery'.:(

Well, I had a floppy with a P4C800 Dlx BIOS on it. I inserted it, and proceeded to the BIOS recovery that went fine AFAIK. Then I was asked to switch off my PC. I pushed the power button for 4 seconds and got a 'NO SHUTDOWN' from the GT. I had to switch off the PSU. Then, on restart, I went through the 120 seconds delay of the GT, then GT running down to -50, rig fires up and....same message: 'BIOS checksum error'

Is my mobo dead? Or my CPU fried at first? Any suggestion? I tried to re flash the mobo several times, and nothing changed.

Help....

Removed evap head and installed an air cooling.

After one flash and one reset, I could load Win XP.

Everything seems to be fine

Don't know what's wrong with the mounting?

Seems like the contact with the CPU can't be done with my Intel kit...

prolly a build up of condensation BaD CrC, thats usually the most common problem wen this happens, if you dont already, get some dieletic grease and apply to the socket, double up on the seal string on the outside of the plates aswell.

If you aint done the above, this could happen again, only next time your mobo might get wrecked coz of it - i speak from experience, this is the third motherboard in the space of a couple of months, this one has lasted me the longest thus far, its its 1 week old birthday today :D

well whenever i get this message is when i overclock my ram too far....

only then is when i get this error....

anyways if your rig is working fine on air then your gear is fine i guess..

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE INSTALLED EVERYTHING CORRECTLY...

ALL THE wiring...and cpu kit installed properly making sure you get good contact...check check and double check :)

the NO shutdown message is normal...i get it too...

Well, I'm really desperate now. I reinstalled 4 other times the evap head, making sure I get the best contact, but nothing changed. Exactly the same message all the time.

I'm running on air now, and it's just fine :( . I really don't get it. What can trigger this kind of message?

sorry CRC i was really tired wen i read that last night and seem to of misread what your comment said.

I infact did get that same BIOS error a few times, im not sure why it did it, i didnt get it all the timme and when i did i just popped the CD in and it fixed teh BIOS,however that board was RMA'd coz a mofset caught fire, the new one hasnt had any problems.
