Hey there :)

Need some help and pointers at getting some more umpff outta my CPU. My specs are in my sig. Heres my current OC details..

Athlon 64 X2 5600+ 2.90GHz

Clock: 3.13GHz

FSB: 223

Idle Temp: 23

Load Temp: 46

I need a bit of help getting it to 3.20GHz. Im not sure wether i have to increase CPU voltage or OC my memory so thats why im posting :) Only started OC'ing a few days ago so any tips/info apriciated :)

Cheers

Hey mate, as far as i was aware with these athlons after you went after the 3.0ghz mark there was negliagble performance increase.

Tbh with you, these chips are showing there age as i know my 5000 is not pushing my 4850 along at all. If you are hardcore amd though there new stuff coming in Q1 09 looks very promising

It does i think ill be grabbing one of those new quads coming next year :)

If there isnt much performance diff. i might just leave it at 3.13Ghz then.

Thanks for the reply! :D

Best bet is to gently up the VCore a notch, but decent attempt t OCing for a first number, I could only get my Athlon 3200+ (Socket 939) to about 2.35 over the stock 2.2Ghz. Check with CPU-Z to see what speeds your RAM is running as it miight not need the extra voltages, no idea how exactly Athlons determine RAM speed but some FSB resut in the RA being underclocked by a fewe Mhz. Best bet is to up the VCore by small increments and see where that takes you.

What motherboard/RAM you running?
