Hi All,

So I've decided to ditch the TV gaming idea and will now go for a monitor but can't decide between:

Acer xb270hu

Asus rog swiftt pg278q

Asus MG279q

Are there any others better out there tan these 3? I have up to £700 to spend.

I will be running a Zotac GTX980ti playing mainly MMo's and some high end FPS.

Thanks

Well the Asus MG279q is a FreeSync monitor, which isn't exactly ideal for an Nvidia GPU.

With an Nvidia GPU it would be best to get a G-Sync monitor so that you could use their adaptive framerate tech. Your other two choices are ideal IMHO.

I'd get the Predator. Lot of people, including one on this forum, have had serious issues with the Swift. Haven't heard anything bad about the Predator yet.

Yeah, definitely go for the Acer mate. I have the ASUS Swift and for a monitor that costs almost 4 times as much as my other monitors, for it to develop a dead pixel within a month of use is outrageous! Have had my cheaper BenQ monitors for years without any issues at all!

Mainly MMo's

Then buying a 144Hz monitor would be a bit of "worthless"

I should mention that a friend of mine owns 3 Eizo Forris monitors and he couldn't be happier with the colours and the input lag (he's a CSGO addict, but also plays games like Diablo, WoW, Civ)

I think the monitor in the link is the old TN panel HA not HU at the end of the model number (and as Davva says it's 1080 not 1440).
I just got a Acer XB270HU bprz 27-inch (the IPS one with g-sync) and it's effing lovely. I'm driving it with a 980 strix.
I would seriously consider one of the ips Benq monitors at 144hz, i found that running the acer in gsync is lovely but it looks just as nice with the monitor locked at 144hz. So if budget is a concern save on the gsync and just go for 144 ips. imho

Mate, The Predator is the Emperor of gaming monitors at present.

regarding MMOs, I play mostly rpgs and I enjoy the 144hz refresh rate. I would argue that the 144hz refresh rate contributes to a much better experience while playing Rts and rpgs.
Even dragging the mouse pointer around feels smoother with higher refresh rates. While playing MMos and Rts type games, you move the camera all over the map often and gsync + 144hz refresh rate while doing that = awesome experience.

Lastly, be careful when you buy the monitor so as to buy the right predator. Acer has slapped the brand name predator on every thing they churn out. What you want is the acer predator xb270hu. The one in that link isnt this monitor.
