Hello All!

Hi there.

I am new here and I would like to say hello to everyone!

I've been a Mac user for the last 8 years now, and finally I'm back to the PC as I've just built my dream gaming machine. Here My specs

Processor: Intel 5930k 3.5GHz 15MB 40 Lanes
Motherboard: Asus Rampage V Extreme 3.1
Cooling: Corsair H100i GTX Hydro
RAM: Kingston HyperX Predator DDR4 3.000MHz 32GB (4x8GB)
SSD: Samsung SM951 NVME 512GB 2.200MB/s
Graphics Card: Asus Strix GTX 980 Ti 6GB
PSU: Corsair AX1500i
Cabling: Corsair Individually.S Red Cables
Case: Corsair 780T
Monitor: Asus PG278Q 144Hz G-Sync TN
Keyboard: Corsair K95

I plan to change the SSD from MS951 to the new 950 Pro when it becomes available. Also the monitor, I'll probably change it for the PG289Q 165Hz (which is an IPS screen) when available.

Since I am a Mac user, I was used to have everything up and running automatically... Now I've build my machine (well, I'm in the process of having everything organised and nice)

Here my PC

Welcome

Just a bit tighter cable management in there and you'll have yourself a very clean rig :)

Thanks! I know I have to organise and tighter the cables, but I still didn't finish setting up the system. In fact, I am a total noob... And to be honest, I haven't been able to set my memory at 3.000MHz... Is a pain...

I bought the Rampage V Extreme as it should support DDR4 quad channel 3.000Mhz. THen I choose the Kingston HyperX Predator 3.000MHz... Both are XMP compatible, but when I set the XMP profile in the bios (latest) my system just doesn't boot. I've read in the ROG forums that I need to increase the BCLOCK to 125Mhz (so I need to OC my CPU) then play with the System Agent Voltage, moving up 0.01v by 0.01 until I get my motherboard to boot and be stable... And I couldn't. Every time I boot I just get errors and blue screens in Windows.

So, now I can only boot in DDR4 2.166Mhz and I'm about to give up... :( Just about to return everything to Amazon and buy a new Mac...

Any help?

You'd be better off starting a new thread in the memory section for help with mem overclocking. I wouldn't start returning it all to Amazon though, this is a lovely rig regardless of the mem speed!

G'day Welcome to the forums nice tasty rig there

Thanks! :)

Welcome to the OC3D forums Catalonia, kudos on a bang tidy rig.

Thank you!

Welcome to the forum dude, glad to see you realised the error of your ways and left the mac behind and joined the world of the real PC. Nice looking rig, as previously stated, have a search through the forum to see what you can find. Then start a new thread for anything you need guidance on. Looking forward to seeing what it can do.
