Helldivers 2 will soon require PlayStation accounts to run on PC

I don't agree with it being required but if they want to stop people buying the game, then asking them for information to sell is certainly one way to do it.

They can say it's for Security etc all they want, but we all know it's BS they just want to force you to provide them with information to sell.

They don't need your PSN to do that lol don't be naive. People always use this argument when it's entirely irrelevant. They do it anyway and have easy access to do it. How do you think the Internet was built? Off collecting data. It's the biggest money maker in the world.

You are right they might already have it, but they might not.

This whole thing is a scam to not only collect and sell your information but to inflate the PSN Members numbers!

I wonder what they are going to do in the Countries where you are not allowed to create a PSN Account?

I know the dev's of HellDivers are telling people to let Sony know by requesting refunds and publishing negative reviews of the game because they do not agree with it, and they do not agree with Sony changing the terms of service etc 24 hours before the announcement.

Pauls Hardware just made an weekly video mentioning this which was both quite funny how he did the humor around it, but also pointed out the issue at hand and the fallout from it that's already happened.

I don't see why people are moaning about it. Either Sony collects your data or the Devs do. Regardless somebody is collecting it. You agree to the terms and services.

I hate companies collecting data just as much as anybody else, but the outrages over instances like this are just laughable.

True and fair points in themselves, although as Paul pointed out in his video, this is more of a case of people buying the game and then Sony basically forces their users into an account in order to play said game, that they've paid for.

A service that might not even be available in ones country either. But you've still paid for that game and they are now essentially saying that you can no longer play it due to not having this account.

They haven't collected as much data as they will be with these accounts, hence forcing users that have already paid for the game to basically give up this right of theirs, just because of Sony wants said data collecting is wrong in my opinion. Hence why I disagree with you on that one, I don't think it's laughable in any way to be fair.

If it would have been a case of an account would be a requirement before purchasing said game in order to play it, then that's a whole different story. As to your "You agree to terms of services", agreed with you on that.
But now it's the instance of basically taking this whole thing away, after been paid for and not being part of the terms of services, just because of "data collecting" is laughable as to how gross it is.

Completely understand why this backfired on Sony and why the player base have basically Helldived for the game. Suiting name for said game.

Mandatory PSN wasn't in the ToS. People bought the game thinking that PSN won't be mandatory.

And if you like to think of yourself as a human being, rather than a consumer built for buying and caving in to ridiculous corporate demands, you shouldn't need any other reason than simply stating "I don't want to, fu*k yourself".

Also, even if you don't care, PSN isn't available in most of the world. It's only available in 69 countries. This means that those players who bought the game can no longer access it. Sony even delisted the game in those regions.

And in case you don't recall, Sony has a pretty bad track record of incompetence when it comes to keeping their customer data secure. PSN was hacked twice. Do you really want to give your data over to a company that can't keep it secure, even if the game that you're trying to access can run perfectly fine without your data?

And as a cherry on top, PSN is still optional in China and Russia, which proves once again that it isn't necessary and that Sony execs are basically giving you the middle finger and telling you that you'll suck it for as long and as deep as they want.

If that's who you are as a person, more power to you. Go swallow that metaphorical corporate load.

With PSN accounts now being a requirement, SONY have stopped people who bought the game in any 1 of the 121 countries that PSN is not available in from being able to play the game, Do I care about the data collection on how many hours I play or which weapon I most use ? Nope, Not 1 bit, But outright stopping millions of people who legally bought the game from being able to play because PSN is not available in their respective countries is just a slime ball move.

And if they use a VPN to circumnavigate geo restrictions to create a PSN account, This breaks SONY's terms of service which then means their account gets perma banned when their system eventually gets flagged as using a VPN to geo spoof, It's a lose-lose situation for a hell of a lot of people.

The stupid thing here about the review bombing and why I think these people are morons is that Sony is forcing this, but it has nothing to do with the Developer. Arrowhead are an independent Swedish studio and the negativity is punishing them, not Sony.

Sony couldnt give a rat's a** what any of you think. The the game studio will most likely be fretting.

All this crying and bickering about having to make another account in 2024 when nearly every major game has one is hilarious. What is wrong with people today? Sony/Google/Microsoft etc etc insert ISP provider and every other Internet connected megacorp already has every bit of data and information they need from you. Pulling a hissy fit over this just shows what society is like today.

Sure, no one likes their data sold on, but "they already have it all!!!!!"

Windows accounts/Google accounts or facebook that you use to log into your favourtie apps.. Sony has probably bought this info already. Microsoft has probably sold your details 10times over already.

All the major games studios did this. Bungee did it multiple times, via steam/epic game store/blizzard activision for Destiny. RDR2/GTAV via Rockstar launcher even though you had it on steam. Almost every single EA game needed Origin even if using XP game pass.

Honestly, hearing people moan about this on here, just makes me want to stop using the forums.

Agree on the review bombing, It won't do anything to Sony at all. I do not give a rats rear end about data collection on this game, I do think cutting off potentially millions of current customers due to PSN geo restrictions is a very bad decision though.

The ToS is subject to change without prior notice. Get over yourself and your high horse lol

Nothing to do with being a corporate guy. You're grasping at straws and flinging insults because you are terrible at debating.

They already have your data. The original argument is stupid and irrelevant. Extrapolate however you want to. Just being naive.

Agreed on everything. There was a time a while back I stopped visiting. To much moaning.

As someone who has collected data for people in the tech industry it's so easy to do. The access and information you can obtain is wild. The Internet was built this way. It's engrained. I don't do it anymore. It felt unethical.

Regardless I agree with you and I take my leave now.

Had sooooooooo many issues with Windows Live. I remember when Bioshock and Gears of War came out, The amount of issues WL created were headache inducing.
