as david essex said ROCK ON

and i stayed up an extra few minutes to type this

u better not try it till i get there

O.K. obviously you all weren't that interested in my "teaser" pic to open this thread,so here's a bit more for you. Just got to sort out the back of the x800 now.

As Eric Hall would say 'MONSTER'

are you serious  what are you cooling the CPU with now, or do you have 2 phase change units? Isnt the load of a GPU a little light for a prommie?

Daz will be cacking himself :D

sw

Oh yeah,i'm serious, and yes i got 2,Gt on cpu, machII on gpu,i only hope the x800 volt mods will increase the load enough. My ramsinks will be a little limited, but there's room to do something.Anyone know of any useful links about this kind of thing ?.Idea's ,comments ?

how u holding the evap head against the card @ the back......

how u holding the evap head against the card @ the back......

In the 1st pic i posted, you can see how i modified the mounting plate with 2 threads to go through card holes and they are nut+washered on the back. The hardest part is calculating the position and height of the head to get good contact and be clear of the rams and still fit card in mobo.Hope i don't fry my 3 week old vivo, lol.

so when are we gonna see this monster clock thickie or are you too scared and the pics are just your`e way of giving it LARGE

Your problem will start when u fire it all up due to the head overhanging the edge of the GPU socket... it's gonna become a condensation nightmare unless you REALLY insulate it... Mav's GPU cooler gets to same temp as a MkII will more or less... bit colder... and his card was a solid block of ice fairly quickly.

THIS THREAD contains a lot of info on condensation proofing the X800 for phasechange use... The ENTIRE surface of the card must be condensation proofed basically... And you MUST fill the AGP slot with dielectric, as the cold will be passed thru the card's contacts to the mobo and freeze up the AGP slot. You'll also need to the AGP slots' pins on the rear of the mobo.

Also, ensure the whole system is horizontal. The Prommi evap head won't work if suspended under the card vertically, but works peachy with the card itself vertical. Cover the WHOLE of the GPU Core area (including the surrounding border of resistors) with Arctic Ceramique... flood fill it up basically... rather than titting around with dielectric in there... use the dielectric around the outside of the GPU shim area on the cards surface.

Using ceramique will mean that not only does the GPU itself get cooled, but so does the GPU bed and all the resistors surrounding it... which will do nothing but improve performance!

Don't sink up your ram chips... the cold spreading thru the card will cool them perfectly from underneath.

Looks good tho d00d! Hope it works for ya and look forward to the results...

^^^^^^Wow,thanks mate, you definately saved me a lotta grief and money.I didn't realise just how far the cold would travel.I'd have trashed it for sure.

I wonder if Daz has bought Marci's Prommie to 'try this at home'?

sw[/QUOTno im happy with what i have @ the moment.

thats untill the dual pci express motherboards and pci 6800 ultras

come out.

then will be looking at some very nice scores indeed....... ;)

I think this how i will have to run it,any other way stresses the pipes too much. What do you think, will the prommie's run o.k. like this ?
