Headset or Sound Card

Hi guys, I'm looking into upgrading my audio set up as my ancient Sennheiser PC 151 are starting to give up the ghost after more than 4 years.

I'm looking at spending no more than £100 and have been looking at the Logitech G930 wireless headset but haven't decided on a headset at that sort of price yet.

Now i'm considering a sound card + slightly cheaper headset, specifically the Asus Xonar DGX at around £25 obviously leaving max £75 for the headset.

I just wanted to get your recommendations and advice as to which will sound better, in particular I'm looking at gaming sound quality, I play a lot of CS:GO so clear footstep/reloading noise is the main thing I'm after.

Thanks chaps!

I really dislike Wireless headsets. For quality you should get a wired one. Most likely get better headset overall compared to getting a wireless for the same budget too.

I can't comment on low budget sound cards though as I have always got the high end e.g. Xonar STX. If you spent the £100 on the STX I or STX II and managed to keep your headset going a little longer I think you would love the quality the card gives.

100 quid isn't the best budget to get proper headphones (don't get a headset) and a miniamp/soundcard (i prefer miniamps).
So here is the slightly altered version of Warchild's suggestion.
Get a FiiO E10, they are like 50 quid, save up some more and get a proper set of headphones like the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250 ohm. Basically anything gaming branded is really just cheap shit.
