Just a quick heads up for internet users near swindon / bristol who might be in work at the moment - There's a chance your internet connection might not be working when you get home.
Some clever sod with a JCB or something has sliced through a primary fibre optic cable in the area, taking out nearly all the DSLAMs in the surrounding areas. Not sure how far reaching the issue is yet but over 6500 of our (virgin national) customers are being affected, plus, I believe cable customers and anyone on bulldog or C&W networks. Potentially more. The problem will manifest itself as failure to gain a PPP link / authenticate (DUN ERR 691 for people using adsl modems)
On the plus side, virgin national launched wholesale line rental today after 6 weeks of testing (by myself and another) so if youre sick of paying your line rental to BT ... pay it to us instead
