Heads up?

I've recently tried cooling my graphics card with a mach 2. I'm using the enlight case that the standard panels are designed to match and it's an ATX case so this means the mach 2 evap head is facing upwards. This seems to make it run either extremely poorly or not at all. I've heard it doesn't like this. Is there a way around this or do other units do the same thing? Also my mach 2 seems to be completely broken now. Help.

The stock Mach II head is designed to flood slightly when operating vertically in order to maximise surface area to refrigerant, but when it is operating horizontally the refrigerant is flooding not only the head but also the rest of the unit, as it is not designed to work in that manner.

The heatload kicked out by a GPU is also a lot less than the heatload of a CPU, so the temperatures you will be getting are not the best you can achieve.

Having the charge configured for the correct heatload would give best results.

The Baker GPU evap head is designed to combat the flooding and does a damn good job of keeping cards cool as it is designed specifically for the job.

If you ask Phil nicely I'm sure he'll be able to sort you something out :)

Alot of people using machs on their systems actually run the board on a box and have the card on its side :)

Give that a whirl :)

hmm, I thought about that but hadn't got around to trying it. Now one of my mach 2s seems to have stopped working completely though. :(

Does it power up at all or is it completely dead?

I have left it for a bit and it turns on (it's not a faulty board), it just doesn't get any colder and eventually it goes "to slow", presumably meaning "too slow".

EDIT: I'll try it again now.

Leave it to settle for 24 hours if the problems persist, as I had similar problems when my Prommi was delivered due to it being upside down most of the journey to my house.

Ive done the motherboard box thing before. How do you guys ensure good contact when mounting to the cpu like this? When i do it i cant get good contact unless its mounted inside tower case, the natural bend of the cap tube trys to force the whole board up at an angle.

Not a problem atm, just curious.
