Headphone warning

Just a word of warning to anyone that keeps their headphones on a stand or over the edge of their desk near a window. I sit mine over the side panel of my desk.

Always check your ear cups before putting them on your head.

I put mine on last night and something crawled in my ear. I ripped the headphones (Kingston Hyper-X Clouds and very nice they are too) off and there was a spider on my face. Freaked out. Brushed it off and it fell on my shoulder. Shirt came off in record time!!

Nasty bugger too wanted to make sweet love to my ear canal. Always check your cups for spider webs.

'Straya mate.

It is an introduced black house spider which is quite common they are mildly venomous but some have been know to carry the necrotizing fasciitis virus, but is a good reminder to check headphones, shoes, helmets or hats before putting them on no matter where you live in the world.
You are lucky it wasn't a red back living it them or black widow as they are called in the States as it probably would have bitten first then asked questions later

Our spiders are poor at best here in the UK, we get the giant aggressive house spider which is about the worst for indoors as for outside we have the mouse spider, labyrinth spider and nurse web spider which will bite if provoked. Most common for biting here though is the cross backed orb weaver but only the female will do it when guarding her eggs. That said it's nothing compared to what you guys get in OZ, my mate emigrated to Sydney and was unprepared for the size of the beasts and said you could saddle them and ride them to work.

Only the small ones. Hard to find a parking spot for the adults ;)
