HDD activity light

I've started modding an Antec 900 case (project thread is here) and one of the ideas i am toying with is modding the HDD activity light, as it's a bit crap on the 900 case.

I've got 3 questions:

1) Is there anything stopping me plugging what is meant to be the HDD activity light into the Power light socket? Will it work straight out?

2) Can i use standard 5mm LED's to make a new HDD activity light? I want to make more of a feature out of the activity light, possibly 3 or 4 LED's scattered about, is it simply a case of wiring the LED's onto the appropriate plug and plugging them in?

3) Is there any sort of limit as to what the connection will power?

1) Nope, you can use either wired LED for both pwr_led and hdd_led

2) Yes providing it will operate adequately at 3.3v and low ampage. If you wire it the wrong way round you just flip the plug over

In order to run several light you would need to calculate the wattage they would be drawing while run in parallel

3) In voltage yes, 3.3v, the ampage of anything drawing from it will determine the wattage draw, which the limit will be very low for. Will have to search or contact a motherboard company for the exact figure.
