Haven't got a clue !

(solved)Haven't got a clue !

I recently installed this motherboard, Asus P8Z77-V, in my system. This started showing up every time I restart the system.Capture.jpg. Since the only
asus product I have is the motherboard, I'm assuming this comes from it. I cannot seem to find anything that is not working correctly. But it is annoying to see this on the screen every time the sys. is restarted. Plus, the accompanying sound reminds me of some bad flatulence. Any ideas ?

I had a similar problem to this when you installed the motherboard drivers how do you install them via a CD or setup file, if you downloaded the problem file from the ASUS website when you install them did you just click the asusSetup.exe file, I think from memory it's a text file that sits in the temp folder.

If you reinstall the driver don't click the asusSetup.exe. there will be a folder called Windows 10 or Windows 8.1 you need to install the .exe file that sits in the Windows folder.

Ok. I'm not sure I follow you. I installed the drivers from the original disk that came with the board. I just recently updated the bios to the most recent release. I could not download any more current drivers from the asus website.

First rule don't install the drivers from the CD there outdated always download them from the Website cause the drivers are more up to date on the Website. it's a rule for later on.

Go to the ASUS website and look for the motherboard and then download the drivers from the website.

I'm at the website now. can't find my particular board. they have deluxe,le,vlx,premium, pro.ok. found them. the chipset and vga drivers are beta.(non WHQL). I already installed the latest bios and sata.

Now. after getting all the latest drivers from the asus website, I'm still stuck with the original problem. Although, thanks to Mr. KoOS. my machine is running better.

What you need to uninstall the drivers first and then reinstall the new drivers but don't click on the asusSetup.exe you need to look for the other .exe file and install that one.

Yes i made a copy of your post so i could follow it along. seems to be the same issue, although like i said,after rebooting a couple of times,my system seems more responsive/

Okay. just to make sure I know what you are talking about. I admit I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Tell me which files to delete. and how to navigate my way there. thanks.

1. Uninstall all of the drivers you have installed 2. Reinstall the driver you want to install but don't click on the asusSetup.exe look for another .exe file and install them with the second .exe. That what i have done now since i worked it out, When i'm installing motherboard drivers i always look for a second .exe file.

I have the same board and had the same problem. there is an entry in the registry that needs to be changed, one sec I'll try find the instructions.

EDIT: Here you are you have 2 choices,

  1. From the start menu search for "Task Scheduler" and open it
  2. Under the Active Tasks section of Task Scheduler (Local), look for tasks that begin with "i-setup" and are triggered at log on of any user and delete them

alternatively

use regedit to remove the following,

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tree\ASUS\i-Setup180917]
"Id"="{4960FFCF-AAED-4C16-AE65-B0BE6C318F7E}"
"Index"=dword:00000002"
NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tree\ASUS\i-Setup182418]

King of Old School, Darth Dudo, Thanks for the help. I haven't found exactly what you are telling me. I'm convinced this is becaused I have the brainpower of a three week old Golden retriever. In the meantime, I sent a support ticket to asus, for what that's worth. I'm gonna go back and try again. This is gonna bother me until....

I can't see them doing much about the Ticket cause it's a software issue not a Hardware issue, No problem
