Have I screwed up my video card?

Hey guys,

Spent the whole day trying to work our why my call of juarez was no longer working. Thus I decided to dl a no CD crack. The game came on, but then after 5 minutes the monitor would just die. The PC stayed on but i couldnt reset the monitor. I had to turn on an off ant the wall.

I thought it was the nocd crack, so tried everyone i could find.

Anyway I was looking inside and noticed a sata cable in the fan of my HIS x1950pro iceq3. I took it out, and played the game. It hasnt crashed yet (30 mins), thus I assume that was the problem.

Question is will having the cable blocking the fan from moving, and thus crashing my monitor mayber 20 times have damaged any of the components in any way?

It could have, but since it turned off and such and it's working now I doubt it really hurt it. I wouldn't worry about it unless more problems arise.

Nah it probably just thermal throttled and turned itself off

My first thought was something to do with drivers, so i reinstalled old versions. When I restarted it kept giing me the blue screen of death. I restarted in safe mode and did a system restore. Then realised the wire, and everything started working. It seems to be working fine, but i just wanted opinions of the pros.

should all be fine mate, but i would recommend reinstalling the newest drivers

With the system restore, it was restored to when the newest drivers were installed so all is good i believe
