I have heard from a few people (no not some spotty kid in mom's basement :D) that Microsoft is taking a leaf out of Apples play book with, that is that Windows 10 may well be free, or as near as damn it for Home users, business users will have to purchase an enterprise license for their machines.

There will be paid upgrade packs made available (think media center on Windows 8.x for an example of this) as well as several other possible packs, as well as upgrades for the edition of Windows you have (think along lines of Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate) so as you get more features enabled.

So how true this information is, I am taking it with a bucket of salt (instead of a pinch). If anyone else has heard anything along these lines, I am intrigued as to how true this will be, especially as Microsoft being a software company and this in a way will be cutting off a major source of income for them!

I know when they first brought out windows 8 it was only £20 which is why it was my first genuine OS
So maybe they could do a really basic version free, then you pay a little for the extra features you need. Which tbh isn't such a bad idea

It would be a great idea. Make basic free, premium 20 quid, pro 35-40 quid and enterprise £xx

More people using your OS and legitimate copies at that

I did hear something along these lines as well. I think it was that if you have Windows 8.1 or later then W10 basic would be free for home use not a 100% sure if this is right but just to let you know your not the only one who has heard such rumour.
