This was a review written by me about 4 years ago, if not longer, however, i thought i would re-post it here to correspond with my newer more recent review of their newer product.

this review was originally posted on this site, however, was lost at some point as i cannot seem to find it, i fortunately kept a copy, please excuse the ...slight immaturity in its writing, i wasn't as ...seasoned then as i am now.

I bought these a while ago, and did a review on them at the time, but that has since been deleted, however i still have the pictures, and am going to do a fresh review.

I purchased these speakers from here http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/2_1_Speakers.html

15'th item down, price £99.82 including VAT, i got mine in a special offer, and it cost me £103.47 including delivery, but expect them to be around £110 including delivery

these speakers arrived in the stock box, they were not packaged in anything other than what the factory packaged them in

no brown cardboard box, no extra packing, just the factory box with my address slapped on the side

the box was rather nice however, with pictures of the speakers and subwoofer on each side, i have seen worse, and this looked quite nice, with the blue and white design

S1010224.jpg

when i opened it up, i found the instructions, as would be expected, a packing material that looks similar to eggbox cardboard

S1010227.jpg

the first thing you get to, is the power cable, and the transformer

S1010228.jpg

you take off this initial layer of eggbox card, and you get to the speakers themselves, nicely wraped in some clear plastic

S1010230.jpg

i moved one so you could see it, and the initial impression is good

S1010231.jpg

you remove the 2 speakers and the next layer of eggbox card, and you get to the subwoofer, had i not seen a picture of this before hand, i would have wondered what it was, it looks rather...strange...

S1010233.jpg

it looks similar to a fountain in my opinion

S1010235.jpg

i got all the individual items out, and placed them on my chair, still in there wrapping

S1010238.jpg

its all looking good so far, they were well packaged, and didn't suffer from transit

meaning no-matter how clumsy your postman is, these speakers should reach you in prime condition

now, here is a picture of my desk, with my old £5 ebuyer value labtec speakers

S1010240.jpg

these speakers were getting kind of old, drab, and had lost there oomph, if you get what i mean, it was time to throw them out

so i cleared my desk, of this 'clutter' and installed my new speakers, they look very nice on the desk, nice and neat

S1010242.jpg

and another picture

S1010251.jpg

so i turn them on, and find the subwoofer has a light in it!

this looks absolutely stunning in the dark, but as with most things, is rather difficult to take a picture of, without it being blurred, or without it not capturing the feeling of the item in question

S1010252.jpg

that is the best of, 50 odd photo's i took, to try and catch the essence of what it looked like.

here is another, in the light this time, to show you what its like:

S1010256.jpg

these speakers are amazing, the sound quality really surpasses my old labtec's i can hear all sorts now, i am starting to notice little things in songs that i couldn't hear before

the sound quality is truly excellent

you have to hear them for yourself in order to make an assessment, but i was very impressed with these speakers

one little feature worth mentioning, is this little dial, on the back of the subwoofer, at first i wondered what it was for, but when you turn it, it adjust the intensity of the subwoofer

S1010254.jpg

one good feature, is the touch sensors on the right speaker, a plus and a minus, this is to adjust the volume level

there is one problem however, there isn't an indicator to show you what level the volume is currently at

S1010258.jpg

that is also hard to take a photo of, but i tried my best.

Evaluation:

these speakers aren't exactly cheep, coming in at a whopping £110, but if you want quality look no further, these speakers sound amazing

if you want looks, look no further, these speakers look amazing, even more so in the dark.

and if you want floor-rumbling sound, look no further, this subwoofer, even though it isn't all that big, can still make the floor shake (as i had fun finding out, much to my grans annoyance)

i give these speakers 8/10 ....the 2 marks are deducted for the following reasons:

1 - no volume level, this is annoying, as you have to keep touching - til you are certain it wont blast your head off when you turn them on

1 - price tag, £110 isn't exactly pocket change, although you do get what you pay for, but that doesn't mean everyone can afford these speakers.
