im very unhappy........

so unhappy im about to stab myself with the heatpipes from my commando mother board..........

last week, i had my GFX died on me.......then orderd a new one but had to cancel.....then stuck with a spare GFX i had collectind dust for yonks.....

after my GFX i had my 250quid worth of speakers died.....and after speaking with not-very-helpful Scan and Creative on the phone, i got a response from someone in a email RAM request....now still waiting for creative to get back to me with my replacment....

then last night, i have my monitor suddenly half broken.....DVI socket could not pick up signal from 2 computers and 1 laptop.......it will only pick up signal from Analog input, that means a DVI to D-SUB converter socket....

i really really dont need this right now......what the hell is going on?

:( :( :( :( :( :( :(

PS, its a ViewSonic VX2025wm........

PPS, i also tried 2 known working DVI cables......but still doesnt work........

Ouch, sounds like luck really isn't on your side at the momenr..

Half broken, that is really weird. Maybe some where a cable has come lose.

Just gonna state the obvious incase u havent tried it yet - but some monitors don`t auto-switch between analogue and digital, u have to physically press a switch. I know some slightly older Sharp monitors that do this.

>.< worth a shot.

thanks for the info......

yeah, i tried that too......but still doesn't work......

argh......and ViewSonic warranty on this monitor is a RTB one, that means i cant use my comp for aleast 10 days.....

:(

well. VS changed the monitor for me today, but guess what, its still doesnt work with DVI input.......

man......whats going on????

Have you checked the cable or tried a different one in case it is that. Also if it was the cable and you have connected it first it might have shorted out which stops the monitor from working with any cable. I would try and connect your pc to a monitor and cable that you know is working, then try the cable and your pc on your own monitor, then try your own cable just to eliminate any faults.

Sorry if it suck eggs stuff, but sometimes people cany see the woods for the trees.

thanks for the suggestion......

but no matter what i do, DVI port in monitor just doesnt work.......

here is what i've tried so far.

2 comps

2 DVI cables (1 known working, 1 brand new)

all 4 DVI ports from 2 diff GFX card is working, but only with a DVI -> D-SUB converter......

its just not my day......

just finished talking to VS, they'll do a collection for me, then see whats really going on......

argh! i hate it! why does things have to break!!!!!

right lads.

even tho this thread is a complete utter waste on here, im still going to make another post about ViewSonic.....

first of all, do not expect ViewSonic to give you a NEW monitor, because i found out all RMA are re-conditioned items.

then, do not expect ViewSonic UK to have good tech support, and if you ask them if its a common problem, they will say no, its just you.

and now to the last bit.

if for whatever reason your DVI input could not pick up signal, do this:-

computer ON

plug in both D-DUB and DVI to gfx and monitor.

computer OFF

monitor OFF

pull monitor power cable

press monitor switch to drain all power

pull out D-SUB

swtich on computer

that should give you DVI back.

man....i'll never buy ViewSonic again........bloody amazing for a company to have a product that has such problem without doing a fix for it......

That's a very strange fix mate

To be fair though most companies give refurbs as replacements

true, very true, BUT! the bloke i spoke to who deals with VS told me (not sure if its 100% true) said VS probably has the worst refurbs for their monitors.

especialy VX range, the panel might be OK, but the stands and shell is all returns from customers who is not happy with the build quality and returned it.

so i now have a dodgy stand where my monitor is standing twisted.
