H80i or H60?

I understand the difference in performance between the H80i and the new H60, but I am willing to forgo a bit of performance for aesthetics. Now I'm sure I could chuck a H100i in there with a bit of modding, but I don't think it would look good.

Here are two pictures of where the cooler would be going. The H60 would be much thinner than the H80i, which is my worry because I may not want something so bulky in this particular spot.

So I thought I'd ask the forum, maybe you guys and gals can give me a good opinions.

The cord will be moved when I get the PSU in.

I took a close shot of where the fan mounts so you could tell the thickness of everything. I know when I install either cooler that I will need to move the light bar, but I might just push it up further.

Don't mind the stock cooler, only in there because the CM v8 pushes on the window and I have no clue where to find semi threaded rods in metric, hell I can't even find them in fully threaded form, to extend the side panels outward.

I've also looked into getting a silent CPU cooler, but I can't fit my ideal Ram.

This is the exact question i asked myself a week ago because i am using a 20 bucks crap cooler right now and getting 45-50° IDLE !!! I also thought about using the H80i with just 1 fan so it is not so thick and then maybe adding the other fan from the outside. But i am not sure if that would look really ugly :D I just dont have space to fit a H100i in my case.

I appreciate all the answers.

So you guys think that it wouldn't look off being so big in the case?

H80i over the H60, no brainer

out of curiosity, what case is that

It is an H-Frame just like Feronix said. It is a beautiful case. Contrary to beliefs it does not collect dust like a case with fans without filters because there is nothing that is blowing the dust in, the dust that accumulates is just settled which is easy to wipe clean. Also, the whole case acts like a heatsink, it is quite nice to feel it and feel the warmth being given off.

Well for aesthetics the H60, for actual performance the H80i, but if you are already buying a somewhat expensive cooler, why not go for the h100i right away, do some modding and see that you can get it fit, it has actually good performance and probably looks better than the really chunky rad of the h80 :D

Modding it is a good idea and not overlooked, the problem is the case is made out of thick aluminium sheets, I lack the tools to drill holes is specific spots. Although, there are ways I can avoid drilling holes. I'll get back to you after I look into it. Thanks for the reply!

Just got around to finishing checking around for that h100i, it's a no go. It won't fit as my ram would interfer with it too much which would make it buldge out.

Anyways, this build will be for looks. It already does every game on max without my CPU hurting, even when it is stock settings (like it is set now). The addition of an h60 or h80i would be beneficial over its current state of having the stock cooler, but the real want of it is purely looks.

If anyone else has any other ideas, I'm up for it. If you have ideas that stray away from the h80i or h60 that is fine as well, like maybe an air cooler.

It is definitely a good performer, the problem lies with the fans. It just wouldn't look nice in my rig. Now if I was running a camo rig with a sabertooth and green corsair c70, then yeah, but it wouldn't fit the theme of my current rig.

Some of the good air coolers actually cool better then the H50s-H80s according to others testing it.

I would try to find a way to cram a H100 in it if possible. If not then it may not be a bad idea to map out a simple custom CPU loop. That way you get better cooling with the looks you desire.

Thanks for all the posts!

As for the custom water loop, I am planing a way to get on in there, but that will come later, if at all depending when I start my Caselabs rig. As for now, I think I figured out what I wanted, and with the help from the forums I bought the Phanteks PE in blue.

Better performance but, even more so, it will look better than anything else. Since I haven't sleeved yet, I've decided to change my color scheme on my custom cables to blue and white to fit with the white cased fans.

Thanks again!
