H80i/CorsairLink frustration

I recently bought a H80i and finally got the thing in yesterday.

The problems I'm having are as follows:

a) the cooling performance is rubbish (on my unit). When playing Far Cry 3, I hit low 60s when the core clock as at stock. That's the same performance I got with the Intel reference cooler.

b) I installed Corsair Link 2 and was equally as disappointed. There is no option to change the LED colour nor can I adjust the fan or pump speed. I have checked ny cabling THREE times and I have installed it exactly as the manual instructed.

It is also telling me that my HDD is over 100 degrees. Epic fail.

I cannot update the firmware because Corsair have removed it from their website.

If anyone could help me, I'd REALLY appreciate it.

google the corsair link versian 2 beta uninstal the original and restart your pc then put the beta on then add the usb firm ware

50° under load at 4.0 GHz, Corsair Link works fine, can adjust everything

Did you use the pre-applied thermal paste or did you buy some thermal paste?

I used the pre applied stuff. I am going to get some MX-4 right now.

I just did a burn test and at 4.2GHz, I was hitting 78 degrees.

What a joke.

maybe a bad unit? either you screwed up on the mounting or the unit is bad.

Congrats on your 500th post!

I checked the mounting twice now and everything was nice and secure and i got decent contact with the TIM on the cold plate, from what I can see.

I know IB runs hotter than SB.

i had a 3570k a few days ago with an h60i and 2 corsair sp120QE at 4.2ghz. i never hit 60°C.

I am thinking that the cold plate hasn't made adequate contact with the IHS on the CPU. I purchased some Arctic Cooling MX-4 last night and I'll give that a go. Hopefully it helps greatly!
