Guide: Installing AMD Dual Core X2 Patch

Thanks for the info!

I've already applied this hotfix patch few months ago according to this guide and it didn't seem to improved anything. Some people are saying that you don't need to apply it, unless you're using the "Cool 'n Quiet" option, but this guy says it isn't true and it is adviced to install it anyway...

Here is how to get your dual core AMD system running like it should with no hitches and stibility issues..............since the new AMD DUAL CORE OPTIMIZER came out people say you dont need the MS HOTFIX anymore, i dont know if this is true or not, but i tested these fixes with and without one another, and found they work better together, giving an increase in performance.....but thats from my personal expierience......try for yourself, i recomend installing both the MS HOTFIX and the AMD DUAL CORE OPTIMIZER, as they work good together and also give a performance increase by about 1-5%.

Oh...one more thing, you should also install the new AMD X2 Drivers (AMD Dual-Core Optimizer) BEFORE applying this HOTFIX...;)

Hope this helps...

If you read[/B'] the guide it goes through the whole thing and gets you to install the patch and then the Optimiser ;)

I'm REALLY REALLY sorry!!! I got confused, you're absolutely right!!!

One should first install the HOTFIX and just afterwards, install the OPTIMIZER!!! :D

Anyway, this way or the other, it didn't have ANY EFFECT on my overall performance, or at least, nothing noticable...:(

Thanks for enlightening me for my mistake...;)

I just wish there was a fix for my rig being slow as hell in some games :( Nothing seems to work.

Is it a known problem, because I've never heard about Intel Dual-Cored CPUs problem, or is it just a problem in your specific rig?

What "slow-down" do you get, in FPS? and on which games? Maybe you should "google" for some "Video/Graphics" optimizations for a specific game where you encounter these slow-downs...

Its just in Counter Strike to be honest. More than 5 ppl on the screen makes the fps drop down to 30, and it just laggs like mad.

I've searched for answers but not turned up much.

Other games that are more graphics intensive work fine :/

That's strange, as you've got a pretty strong CPU and a strong Video Card.

I have X2 3800+ and 7800GTX Video Card and I didn't have any lags during gameplay when I've played this game...

Anyway, like I've already said, you should try to "google" for a "special" graphics optimization (may involve some registery/drivers tweaks) for that game...

If I'll find anything useful I'll let ya know...;)

Cool thanks. I'm changing motherboard/processor soon so hopefully that will get rid of it. The strange thing is, that even reducing detail and AA/AF settings does not reduce the lag - its almost like its programmed in - ol

Yeah, that's bul***t, I don't know who told you that and/or where did you hear it from, but don't worry...Windows XP Home FULLY supports the Dual-Core, as well as ALL other Win XP versions...;)

I guess it'll be the same for the Vista...
