Hello everyone!
--
Now a days, manufacturers like to cut back on cost by supplying you with a shoddy heatsink with no fan to cool you're chipset. Problem is, High-End chipset's like the nForce Series, and Intel's 865+ Series, get warm, and could overheat and limit overclocking ability, especailly when you start raising Chipset Voltage.
--
To install a small, 40mm fan on the stock heatsink, to cure the problem, will aid in overclocking, and won't break you're bank.
--
First, go find a 40mm Fan!
Here's mine, a small CoolerMaster that I found in my parts bin.
Now, take a piece of string, and tie it through the top right hole, and make a knot. Then take a #2 pencil and place it in-between the two pieces of string left on each side, and tie another knot around the pencil, creating a small loop!
Also do this for the bottom left.
If you're chipset cooler is like mine, with the two pegs on each side, place the loops over the pegs.
Make sure, that the bottom of the fan is facing the chipset, that is where the airflow goes.
There's the bottom.
Now, make sure you're loops are going to stay hooked to the pegs, and plug the fan in and turn on you're computer!
Now you're chipset is chilly cold! These fan's tend to be quiet too, unless you get a high-speed one. Mine spins around 4000 RPM and I can't notice a difference from when I didn't have it in my computer.
You may notice how my cooler is a little lower than the top of my chipset heatsink. This is because of the placement of the nForce 3 chipset, and my large BFG cooler.
There ya go! Good luck!
