I play at 1920x1600 and I like to have all settings at max... The 7900gto is holding out, but for how long at these resolutions... Plus I can't wait for crysis and I know the 7900gto won't run it smoothly at that res.

I'm torn.

I can get the evga 640mb 8800gts KO for £225

OR

msi 8800gtx for £310.

It's that simple.

Is it worth the extra £85 for the GTX? £310 seems a lot of money, but then paying £225 for something not quite as good that probably won't hold it's value as long is annoying me...

There are rumours of dx10.1 too.

C'mon guys, imagine its your money and you have a 24" monitor to game on... What would you do?

I would say the GTS myself, but im a bit scaby with cash...

The GTX is a fair bit faster than the GTS, but i don't think its worth £85.

And where on earth can u get the GTS for that price?

24" monitor? I'd go for the GTX tbh. At high res's like that, you lose crud loads of FPS. The extra power of the GTX would make up for it.

But I'm more of a "Ah, what the hell... just get it" kinda guy lol. If I have the money, I go for the best I can.

Voted for the GTS as you could probably overclock the GTS up a bit more anyway? Not worth £85 more imo

i went GTS, save yourself some cash incase of DX10.1, if its true you might want a new card sometime in the next 6 months..

GTS for me..for two main reasons:

1. It overclocks nicely, and should make up for a large part of the speed difference.

2. It uses only one PCI-E cable. Keeping things a little bit tidier in your case :P

So most of you think gts... Hmmm... I still want the gtx

Well, I already have a w/c block (mcw60 iirc) which I can get the g80 adaptor plate for about £5 and the heatsinks for £20.

Jim actually brought to my attention something I overlooked. POWER! I have a hiper type-r 580w (think peak is 620w) that does have 2 pci-e cables, BUT will it cut it?

I recall NickS recently doing an article on how 500w of QUALITY power is sufficient to run an OC'd quad core, gtx etc...

Also, thanks for the feedback guys...

As for the prices... USA ;)

nice, thing is though, i have a evga 8800gts 640mb, and some games i cant play fully maxed without SOME lag.

i cant play FEAR cranked, lost planet i get 33fps fully maxed in the benchmarks

rainbow 6 is around 30fps during gameplay

and the dirt demo cranked i dont get too many fps above 25.

whats goin on??? i play at 1680x1050

Hmmm, I'm hoping my OC'd e6600 and my new ram will compensate for me being tight with the gfx card...
