Hi Guys. I have been an avid follower of OC3D and also TTL's YouTube channel for some time now and have tremendous respect for Tom's opinion and insight.
I have an old system and I wish to pump some life back into it. I am one of those people that does not like to play games at low/medium settings. I know AA plays a major role, even so much more these days with games like Far Cry 3. I am willing to knock the AA setting back, if it allows smooth gameplay. I would like 45-50 FPS. The games I like to play are Grid/Grid2, Far Cry, Mass Effect and StarCraft. I wish to play at 1080p with high/ultra settings. This is a tall order, but even so much more is the fact that I will require to do so for some time to come.
The problem is that I wish to have an opinion on my system and if it is adviced to upgrade it to a GTX 780 or 770 and if the money should not be spend else where.
My spec:
- 2500k @ 4.4 GHz stable on Noctua NH-D14.
- Gigabyte P67A-UD4
- Gigabyte GTX 560 Ti
- Corsair XMS3 1600MHz 2x4GB CL9
- Corsair F60 SSD (60GB) for OS
- WD 2TB 7200rpm for storage and game installs
- Corsair AX850
- Lian-Li PC-60FNWX will fit 29cm GPU, checked with ruler!
- Samsung SyncMaster BX2450
- Corsair K60 & M60
Is it adviced to put a GTX 780 in my system or should I rather upgrade the CPU/Motherboard to play modern games as mentioned above?
I will be looking at an ASUS DirectCU II OC or the MSI and Gigabyte counterpart.
Any feedback or comments are welcome.
