GTX 780 SLI Flicker

Hi all

I recently made an expensive purchase and built myself a new PC here are the specs below:

Corsair Obsidian 900D
Corsair AX1200i
Asus Rampage Extreme IV
Intel 4930k
Corsair Vengance Pro Black 32GB 1600Mhz
Asus GTX 780 Direct CUII OC 2-Way SLI
Samsung Pro 2x 256GB SSD (RAID 0)
Western Digital Cavier Black 2TB
Corsair H100i
Dell Ultrasharp U2713HM
2x Dell Ultrasharp U2212HM
Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

So anyway the issue that I am having is when I place my cards into SLI mode using the maximise 3D Performance I get a screen flicker its like a static type flicker where 1 frame is just static and doesn't necessary colour the whole screen just portions of the screen and it occurs so fast that you could even miss it sometimes. This flicker only occurs every now and then there is no consistent patterned timing to it, it can happen on any screen, across all screens, doesn't mater if its a game or a film it can just happen with nothing open on my screens. It's hardly damaging and doesn't really disturb me much but is a bit annoying considering the price I have just spent on my new rig. So the things I have tried:

Swapped my graphics cards round, changed SLI bridge, tried different SLI slots on the cards, placed the cards in different slots on my motherboard, tried older and newest drivers etc, googled it but results returned based on a different sort of flicker and that was drivers issue

So I am completely stumped by this, wondering if any of the friendly forum members can assist with their thoughts

Well.....to start INMHO you have a very rare resolution config!! you have 2 1920 x 1080p and 2560 x 1440p mix up!! right now the card dosn´t know which resolution should deliver to you...!! ;) try to clone them all to 1920 x 1080!

I shall give this a go. Bummer if this fixes it as that would be a waste of resolution. So yeah I brought my 2560 x 1440 for gaming and films and my main working screen and my two side screens are for whatever I want going on at the same time such as watching a stream, monitoring temps or IE browsing etc

So I changed my resolution so they were all at 1920 x 1080 and still have my flickering issue

So my side monitor are running off the DVI ports both with Dual Link DVI Cables and my 27" is running of Display Port connection and lead. I have tried different leads such as different DVI leads and HDMI leads etc

Try one screen at a time

Make sure you started with fresh drivers etc

Make sure your ram timings and volts are set manually in the bios - they had better be with your spec list

Dont post on facebook threads again directing me to stuff like this - at least be polite enough to send a PM or something.

Try to connect the 1080p displays to the second card and run 1440p from the first card with same configuration i told you before!! ;)

I'll give the one screen at time a try and reinstall my drivers first before I do this. Yeah the Facebook thread was more just a shoutout for help as I can appreciate your always busy, cheers for taking the time on the thread it's appreciated

So the problem with having my screens across two cards is it does not allow me to display too all my screens when I have sli enabled and in "maximise 3D performance" mode. I added the screens back in one by one and got the flicker on the first screen through to all 3 screens. What I am not trying is I have set the PhysX setting to use my CPU rather then leave it on auto select and using one of the 780s this hasn't given me a flicker in the last 10-15 minutes so fingers crossed at the moment

All upto date. No known issues with my version so still retaining my issue using CPU for physx hasn't worked. Its got to be something that makes sli work. Which says to me the bridge however thats been replace. Does anyone know of any sort of data if any is passed throgu the pcie slots as that of course is how the 290x works

I have almost an identical setup to you. Same motherboard, same graphics, 3930K instead of 4930K. I'm also using three monitors.

What is happening to you is definetly not normal I do not experience this on my own setup. Since this is occuring across all three of your displays that rules out the monitors and your cables.

Have you tried reseating the SLI connector on your cards or moving it to the 2nd set of SLI connectors on your GTX 780's? - I've found SLI screen glitches occur previously when the SLI connector is not making good contact which was fixed by just unplugging it and plugging it back in.

If this doesn't work try reseating your graphics cards, even try them in different slots. You have four slots you should be able to move your cards to the other two slots, just for testing purposes.

If none of this works I think you'll probably need to RMA those graphics cards as if this was a fault with something else there is a great chance you would see the same graphical glitch or a different problem when not running in SLI and it seems isolated to SLI mode.

Hope some of this helps to solve your problem :)

So yes I have tried everything you have suggested above and I am in contact with the company I brought it from to get the cards swapped out but arguing with them at the moment what the fault is

That is too bad, I know how annoying this sort of thing can be (Had three SSD's two 4TB Hard Disks and a stick of RAM die on me in the past 2 months).

I hope you get it all sorted out.

hi there don't no if it helps I run 2 gtx 780 sc acx in sli and I had the flicker at first what I did was run driver sweeper completely uninstalled all NVidia has was told even if you do fresh install they leave bits of NVidia behind so was advised to run driver sweeper then I downloaded latest driver and installed and was perfect for me it may help but all I can say is what worked for me
