Hi guys, I'm going to buy a new graphics card to put my gtx 560ti in retire, so I was looking for something around the 770 & 7970, 780 kinda goes out of my budget. I'd been seeing a lots of reviews, but in some of them the 770 wins, in others reviews the 7970 does, and we know how's this, some reviewers are known to be... influenced for some unknown reason, to a particular brand.

So talking about prices, here in my country, they cost around the same, no big difference, maaybe the 7970 is 50~ U$S cheaper. So what card would you recommend, I'm gaming at 1080p, mostly battlefield 3 (and waiting for battlefield 4)

Thanks !

I'd go for the 770 based soley on that its a lot newer.

I've looked at AMD cards and I just can't be bothered because they aint as new, and the 7970's are the same price really as well.

have had no issues with my 7970's at all love them. As for the 7xx series being new ummm not really lol if we recall a 770 is a re badged 680

so that said if needed today get the 7970 and dont look back if you can wait a bit the new AMD's iirc are just around the corner.

It's a bit better than the 680 though. I've just looked at 580's because they are CHEAP, I could get two and SLi them, but I don't want to take the risk of buying old tat that can't handle new games.

GTX 580s are great card but now more and more games are using larger amounts of vram (especially with next gen consoles coming). 1.5GB may no longer be enough soon.

Would the 3GB version be good? I saw Scan had an MSI Twin FroZr for £170 I think?

i'd advise a 2gb card or larger vram.

is that the cost for a hd 7950 or 580?

for that price for a 580 3gb you would be better off with a newer generation card

I'm waiting for the new AMD cards myself :D

I hope they fuck nVidia cards, but not because I'm a AMD Fanboy, it's because I like when the competition is even, and both brands are fighting, and trying to do better things. If i didn't read wrong the "leaked info" it would have 4k~ shaders, twice as 7970, it should be such a killer, in theory, but I'm waiting to see more info.

Yeah, healthy competition is always great. If the rumours are anything to go by, the 9970 will be a very beastly card.

I agree and competition results in price wars which benefits the consumer. Also spurs the creation of far better drivers for better optimization. From the rumor mill i heard the 9970 should be on par with titan/780 at a cheaper price as well. The 9950 sounds like it will be still very powerful at an affordable price.

I'm waiting for these cards now. Last part of my rig I need to buy, so want to make sure I buy the best I can for the right price. May as well wait because I'm in no rush until BF4 comes out.
