GTX 560 Ti + GTX 550 Ti as dedicated Physx...drivers?

I currently own a GTX 560 Ti and I am using driver 266.66 (which is for the 560 Ti only).

If I install a GTX 550 Ti as my dedicated Physx card, will this still work? Or will I have to install a compatible driver for the both?

For example: 270.61

Cheers

Well tbf the 560TI on it's own can work PhysX. I have the card and thought I'd keep my 9800GT as a dedicated PhysX card but that is pretty old school. I think if you still had a GTS200 series card then I'd recommend the dedicated one, in this case, I wouldn't bother.

Just try selling it.

Hi,

I think you should use the latest 280.26 WHQL drivers for the lot - they should support your card.

For the record I have three systems, one with my pair of 570's, one with a GTX 275 and one with my old 8800GT - ALL are using the same drivers.

Remember, nVidia drivers are unified, i.e. they support LOTS of cards! I'm not sure how old a card has to be to not be included, but my 8800GT is fairly old.

Regarding PhysX, I remember reading that people with newer gen cards using an old (first gen) PhysX card (like the 8800GT or its equivalents) saw LOWER FPS with dedicated PhysX on the 2nd card. This is because the newer cards (460 and up) are that much more powerful, and optimised one assumes, that they are better at doing normal 3d AND PhysX better than the old card can do just PhysX.

Personally I'd sell the 550 Ti and put the money towards a 2nd 560 Ti - but then I'm a total SLI convert
