GRID 2019's PC requirements list DX12 support and incredible storage requirements

100Gb of disc space?
Why? i have forza 7 and that has over 800 cars with the car packs that takes 100gbs,this game is going to have a very limited set of cars so whats all the space for?

the days of putting your OS on an SSD with a couple of games and getting a bigger HDD for the rest are coming to an end. 100gb is a lot for a game, I'm surprised that some companies have not moved to cloud storage for some textures/meshes/soundtracks ect. great way to stop pirates but hell if your server goes down haha

Yeah then they would all just DDOS the servers and ruin it for everybody...

Vast majority of it will be textures, with some games now particularly for the consoles they make the 4K textures as an optional download, often almost as big as the game itself, they only use simple block compression so they can be read to the GPU with minimal overhead and needs more or less instant high bandwidth access, it's not too uncommon now for them to streamed from storage to RAM while playing with games that have larger worlds so for many cloud streaming wouldn't be too viable, that or it'd have the chance to make your loading times long or inconsistent.

I haven't seen many games like this. I know Xbox One X titles don't have their 4K extras downloaded on Xbox One/S consoles (to not waste space on unnecessary extras), but the 4K extras are not optional on Xbox One X.

Yeah was going to say that. Any 4k game will want the textures and aside from selling two versions it's hard to get around. The GOW game I got is 100gb and it supports 4k. So is FO4 and it also supports 4k.

Will wait and see how this is on XB1X before I commit.

Not many games use the feature explicitly yet and most that do will do it without it being noticeable besides being able to launch the game quicker but it's now a clearly structured and well integrated part of the OS on the Xbone with buttons in the menus allowing you to force the download of 4K game content on non-4K consoles if you're upgrading soon and stuff like that. iirc Forza does this on XboneX and I think Borderlands and a few others now.

Rarer on PC but ofc you have examples like the new Final Fantasy where the 4K texture pack alone for the game came in at 75GB.

I have a 1TB NVMe drive for my system drive and a 2TB SSD for data. Both drives cost me less then my first 1TB HDD lol

Unfortunately my 2TB data drive is actually almost full of games and I don't have that many installed :|

how many are you playing simultaneously ? :O

I cant imagine using up 2 TB. I don't even have that much space in total.

I've got a 5TB HDD cached with RAID0 2.5" SSD array. That's almost full now. It's an old habit but I keep all my games on the HDD whenever possible. It stems from when I first moved away from consoles and disc based games. At the time my Internet was crap, so a game would take days to download. I kept as much of my library stored locally as I could so I could hop between my library the same way I did console games on my shelf.

To be honest, there's something rather satisfying about knowing I can turn on my PC and have hundreds of games at my fingertips ready to squash any urge I have without waiting for the download. It's also great for trying to find out what mood I'm in by hopping between various games quickly.
