Great idle temps but not so good load temps?

Hello all :D

This is my first post on here and my setup is:

Intel P4 3.4ghz

Asus P4c800 Deluxe

Kingston HyperX

Leadtek 6800

I have a mach2 and I fitted it once and didn't have much luck with the temps. So I re-fitted it and things are much better but my load temps are not so good.

My idle temps are about -35 on mbm5 and when under load they can rise to 0 and then jump down to -10 or -15 then. 5 is the most I had and then the PC locked up. This was with 1.6v @ 4ghz.

The problem is that I can't seem to see another way to fit the head any better?

Please help me!!

Thanx

hmm curious - I've had many setups based around that particular board and I've never once hit 0 degrees under load. The highest it ever went was about -10 to -15 under serious prime load. I can suggest a couple of things. Firstly, 1.6v is nothing for a phase-change rig, you'd need to up the volts more to help stability. Try 1.75v and go for 4ghz stable first of all. Next step it ditch MBM5. I have never got on with it, use the Asus software instead and tell us what the temps are. Use the bios/Asus software and make comparisons that way.

Add more washers to each of the head-mounting screws to increase downforce. Generally helps keep idle > load swing less dramatic.
