graphies cards help

hi i have been looking for a graphies card for a couple of month now i am not to sure which one to buy i have a basic pc compaq presario sr1909 from pc world. here are my specs

i hope your can help.i can play ccs online and other online games no prob but when it came to playing games like bio shock area 51 medal of honour my grahipes card just cant handle it

Mainboard :Asus NODUS M

Chipset : nVidia nForce 410

Processor :AMD Athlon 64 3500+ @ 2200 MHz

Physical Memory : 512 MB (1 x 512 DDR2-SDRAM )

Video Card :Nvidia Corp GeForce 7300 GS pci-e

i have approx £250 to spend on a graphies card and my be some ram

Its not a case of your motherboard as you say handling the power. Basically a power supplies wattage indicates the amount of juice it can provide, it doesn't opperate at say 600 watts all the time. If your looking at a decent graphics card (nvidia 7000/8000 series) you'll need a power supply around about 400 to 500 watts.

A decent branded power supply of say 400 watt will be a lot better than a cheapy one labeled as 600 watts.
