Gpu Help

So ive been looking at new GPU's (for an Asus Maximum Iv Extreme-z) for a good bit of time now and this is what ive come up with as options:

3 XFX HD6970 2GB All Air Cooled (cant use my sound card then, leading me to ask whats the sound like from the optical port on an Asus Maximus IV Extreme-z?)

2 HD6970 Cards maybe with a better brand watercooled? Also meaning I can use my Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium.

I have pretty much searched all over the web to try and find the powercolor lcs cards... but had no hope, therefore if i choose option 2 I will have to add my own blocks, and I would like a company that allows aftermarket coolers to be fitted.

Thanks Guys, Luke.

get ya 2 EVGA GTX580 sli them EVGA has water cooled versions as well as the no questions asked policy allowing you to retim OC and just about anything to the card. Plus the lifetime warranty on certain models is a big plus

now i must say they are tempting, but crossfire 6970 beats them in alot of things?

, The gtx 580 has been top dog over AMD since its been out!, Its more expensive but you are getting quite a bit more power out of them. Just google FPS charts comparing the two.

and to add to everyone's comments, with nvidia you can fold

and IF you have them on air for a while, till you get ur blocks they won't sounds like there a vaccuum cleaner in your room

well thanks everyone, there quite expensivee tho :/

basically ive decided to go with Radeon, as they are cheaper (Them 580's are expensive!) and according to all the reviews ive read HD6970 cf is nearly the same as the 580's (as much as id like 2 pre watercooled 580's),

therefore I would like some help deciding, 3 XFX cards on air.

or 2 better branded cards on water (with warrenty that allow blocks to be added)

Thanks, Luke

ok but dont say we didnt inform/warn you. Trust me on this you'll be much happier with a single 580 versus xfried AMD's Hell even a 570 single or sli will do ya more for me its about the extra stuff you can get with physics whish as I stated before AMD doesnt do. makes it more realistic

IF you are REAALLY set on AMD, then please for your ears watercool them (especially in xfire) you will not like being in your room if you have 3 on air stacked on top of eachother :S

EDIT: i just looked at prices, and if you can afford 3x 6970 you can afford 1 gtx 590 (and maybe even a waterblock) and that will do some much more for you

I want 2 580's watercooled! whats the best prices or best way to do this?

single monitor or multiple? for single get two 1.5gb cards. surround setup get the 3gig editions. Run you at cheapest 450 each, and again to most people 15-20fps in most games minus is the same for some odd reason. And in some situations that can make or break gameplay experience. Ontop of that the mac1 sound you get from the vacuum those AMD cards will creat in your case pretty much ruins it (; good choice with the 580s. If you want to save money get two 570s and WC them man, If you do it right and good you can get them to close 580 stock specs and that would be some good bang for your buck

or save money get a 590 like i said, and then save up for the future and add another one in if you need to (but you probably won't unless you have 3+ monitors with really high res)

Two separate cards are better in my opinion, if i had the extra grand for my project i would have done qaud sli 580's as drivers for dual GPU cards are always screwy.

how are you find your pair of 590's ? i mean if one dual gpu card may have problems times that by two :S

but i mean this is nvidia, so their drivers are not THAT bad (personally i have never had the budget to get sli, on one card or two) so i can't compare personally, but as i was saying if your dual 590's are working out for you then 1 should also work just fine

I am having problems with micro stutter quit a bit. Need to get some searchin' done to fix some bad fps in shift 2 as well. I get like 19fps... Just dumb problems that you get with dual cards.

you mean dual gpu's on one card right??? dont want to scare away from dual 570/580's lol

you guys got any links to something that can justify 2 evga hydro copper 2's over 3 6970's ?

your talking benchmark performance bro 3 6970's would most likely win over dual 580's I'm talking real world performance and what ya get with Nvidia versus AMD remember it stands for Another Major Disappointment. @ 580's in sli would be awesome for any game out there and be quieter as well 3 6970's in tri xfire would be about (exaggeration here) as loud as a 747 taking off the noise would be deafening. And lets AGAIN not forget the main thing I have been talking about PHYSIC"S once ya see it you'll be like OMFG!! thats awesome you wont get that with AMD yes you'll get superb game play but no extra eye candy. And 2 580's wc in sli would be easier to add to a loop than 3 heaters.

I'm playing BF3 on ultra at 1920 X 1200 on a stock ran cooled 570HD at just under 60FPS lowest I have seen was 45fps and its SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTH!!!!!!!!!!!!

For what its worth i just got my rig setup and if its gaming performance you are after ive been playing bf3 with everything on ultra full res and it runs like a dream.

This is a i7 2600k and 2x GTX 570s

It really does perform well.

Also i saw in another thread you were asking but i have 16gb of the gskill sniper ram and it fits easily under a noctua if you were air cooling.
