My old 7970 royal ace died a month before the warranty expired, so im getting a full refund. Problem is that im having doubts about which card i should get instead. Im willing to spend a bit more on it and atm i have my eye fixed on either a 295x2, 980ti or the fury x.

At the moment the 295x2 is quite a lot cheaper than the other 2 (~100£) so im really leaning toward that, but i really want to hear other nerds opinion first, and since this is the best forum i know of, id ask here.

Having owned a 295X2 I can honestly not recommend it as it suffers a lot from thermal throttling unless you have really good case airflow not forgetting to mention it will up your electricity bill quite a bit.

Both Fury X and 980 Ti are both brilliant cards, There's not much between them so either of those 2 I'd highly recommend.

You need good fans. Kambo has tamed his well and he doesn't exactly have the best airflow in an air 240.

For driver reasons I'd go for a single card still though.

The electricity bill is not a problem since its included in my rent. I didn't think the 295x2 would suffer from thermal throtling with the water cooling solution. I was more concerned about possible cf issues on that card.

I had mine tamed aswell temperature wise, It would usually stay at around 65'c but it would still throttle now and then and yes I'd rather recommend a single GPU solution.

The safer bet is a single GPU solution, A lot less of a headache sorting out Crossfire profiles etc...

ok, thanks for the advise, 295x2 is dropped. Now i just need to decide on 980ti or fury x, and of course convince the wife that its worth the ekstra money :)

Just a last update, i ended up getting a 295x2 anyway, since there was a guy selling one a nearly new one for ~380£. At that pricepoint its such a bargain that i had to take it, and so far it works fine, even if it does make the heaters in my gaming room room redundant...

I have off course mounted the radiator so it blows the heat out of my case.
