Good Broadband...

...i am currently with pipex, and i love there service, i am getting 8mbps, and i can download asmuch as i want for 19.99 a month:)

but then i read this:

http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=9336

and i REFUSE to stay with them if they are owned by tiscali

so my question is this, do you know a broadband provider, for no more than £20 a month, that does 8mbps or more, and has absolutly no cap on download limits

and has decent speeds, pipex are currently giving me about 6400 down

if i go with 8mbps, i expect 8000 dot on, or higher, all the time :nono:

any sugestions people? :)

hmm

unfortunatly i checked Be*'s website

and its not available in my area yet :(

8mbps was the best i could get last time i checked the internet speed from my BT Exchange

atm, we're with pipex for phone, and for broadband...

and we pay pipex line rental, its not a BT line.

You do realise that totally depends on how far you are from the exchange? The ISP has little to no bearing on what speed your ADSL router sync's at.

i spose

i want cable tbqh

but there are no cable's...literally...for aprox 30 miles or so

in scarborough and hull, there isnt any in bridlington at all yet :(

damn

i basically want fast broadband, with no limit to how much i download for virtually nothing :p

cos thats pretty much what i have atm tbh

but tiscali will ruin it :(

cable is crap in the UK now due to FUP

I would have recommended my ISP to any1 when it was NTL, pre the 10m connections.

Now I am a Virgin and I have ""up to 20m"" UNCAPPED - which means if u use more than something like 3g, u`r service goes down to about a 2m connection. Which to me sounds like a cap. They say it`s something like if u`r area uses over an amount u get "managed".

I think the regulators should make them take out the "up to" in their service descriptions tbh.

I was thinking about looking at Sky. I mean the mass of bandwidth u can use to download shows from their sites.

wannadoo suck, been with them, they kicked me off for using too much bandwidth

then went with tiscali, who kicked me off previously, for using too much bandwidth

AOL, didnt kick me off, but i left them, because they were too slow

i then went to pipex, but i am NOT going back to tiscali ...not again

Dude...seriously how much DO you download?

I would recommend Idnet...but seeing as though 30gb is their max (£1 thereafter) and looking at how much strain you'd put on the bandwidth...I think I'd rather you not on there too :p

You do know you will get slow speeds eventually on "unlimited" packages as they slow your service down to keep it "cost effective" for them!

I seriously cannot believe you download 500gb a month (as stated in another thread iirc) - I hit 30gb in a month after a fairly large download spree!

In 10 years i've had about 8 ISP's

I've been kicked off Wanndoo & BT for excessive usage

Now with UKONLINE 8Mb pretty good and as far as i can tell No FU policy (if they do i'm nowere near it and i D/L A LOT) since 04/07/2007 45GB so far this month

get.php

Support prety good a bit slow but most of 'em are.

All I can say is I'm glad the OC3D servers don't have a FUP:

All their packages have a FUP

I'm with F2S, and haven't had an issue with them. Their max is 8meg 50gb monthly limit, but 100gb for an extra £6.

They aren't super strict with their caps either, more soft caps rather than hard ones.

Unforunately Tiscalli have bought their customerbase too, so its Tiscalli now and no longer F2S or Pipex
