@ Gollum4444 - TCCD Vs BH5

Gollum to carry on where we left off:

I found that the TCCD with the high bandwidth but looser timings to the BH5 was not enough to produce higher 3dmark results - we are only takling about a 30Mhz speed increase but at lower latecies.

BH5 on my rig wins, if I remember correctly in 03 and 05 the difference was around 250 points, but in 3dmark2001se and aquamark it was close to a thousand points :D .

You might find different but on my DFI board this is what worked quickest for me.

What TCCD exactly were you using? And what was your full spec for the bench u posted (gfx clocks etc.) just as a comparison between us.

I just got my OCZ PC5000 (apparently possibly TCC5 not TCCD) and I would be able to give a better TCCD bench result but with this weather I can't get clocks as stable as I did for my last run (15158 with poor TCCD). Also my computer seems to crap out at about 270fsb. It's really unlikely to be the ram, mobo or cpu (fx57 on r507 mach 2) so I'm just trying new BIOSes at the moment. I think I should be able to run at 3.5Ghz for a bench in this weather which should give good enough results (seeing as you got 152xx with less than this) so I'll keep you posted.

TCCD was Gskill LE so I assume was good? sold a while back now (shortly after I sold Winchester CPU and got the FX with the BH5 and tested one against the other).

My Rig:

DFI SLI MOBO 510-2 BIOS

Old Skool Mushkin BH5 268 2-2-2-6

FX 55 San Diego 268*13 @ 1.65v

2x 160GB SATA Drives

Enermax 660w SLI PSU

Mach2 GT

7800GTX OC to 490/1350 ish

All I can tell you is that was my experience - your may be different, I hope so as it can only be good for the competition, would love to be proven wrong as I would change my ram to PC5000 also if it does.

When it cools down a bit I am hoping to get to number one position here, don't think I have enough cooling (or cash to invest in new cooling) to make an impact on the top guys in ORB.

It's working - just sorting out timings now :D. Will post a bench tonight. And then another tomorrow when I get my watercooling :D.

I think I used exactly the same graphics card clocks as that and I used TCCD at a much lower 2-2-2-2 236HTT. It's very odd that you beat me by so little unless the slightly higher clocked fx57 makes a huge difference. If it does I assure you I will have the #1 spot here - and on the ORB :p.

It depends on which test you are talking about.

3dm03 and 05 are very 3d intensive - I dont expect you to beat me by much on those scores unless of course you can get massive overclocks (520/1450 for example) with your cards and your CPU clocks up to 3.7

Although if that TCCD stuff you got performs as it should then the scores should challenge for no1 here - unless you got cascade PCICE lile cooling system I cant see you going fast enough to challenge the best on the ORB.

The fun is in the trying and beating your own PB's.

Of course if that TCCD scales like a russian shotputter on steroids and the scores demolish all who watch - I'll be switchin, instead of bitchin!!!

LOL

It's good to see two people reaching there benchmarking peak - I wish you both the best of luck in your endeavours.

I'd like Gollum to win though as it means I can get me some of the TCCD magic and put on them magik benchin boots LOL ;)

But if he fails then retired I remain and it's up to Dazboots and Co to make a difference.

The big winner here is TEAM EPUK of course - and Coach mav can be proud of all of you for you skills and courage!!

Good hunting benchers

The Coach!!

I could probably stretch a bench at 3.6Ghz on a cold day.

The ram doesn't seem to scale with voltage at all.

In fact if you go over 2.8 it causes memtest errors.

Even when there aren't memtest errors windows crashes . Not great RAM so far. ddr660 looks stable enough to bench when in memtest but you can't get into windows with more than about ddr625 (what it's rated at). Stupid CPU is probably causing alot of my benching crashes in this heat at near 3.6Ghz too.

When I get my watercooling assembled (tomorrow) I hope to get graphics clocks close to what you said (I'm already getting 495/1370 fully stable). Whack some fans on the ram for benching and I'm practically there ;).

Hopefully I'll have more luck now or tomorrow (with water) or when it cools down (winter) and everybody's moved onto crossfire.

good luck mate :) my water temps are going up to 34 idle 41 load at the moment due due to my room baking all day long and all night long...

i do remember air temps with my oc'd 2.4 pressie at 3ghz at they were hitting 33 idle 48 load in a chilly novermber day on the ground floor, but with water i was getting 27 idle 34 load...

im going to seriously consider a chiller or something similar for my next project get that water ice cold...

but yeh im a big tccd man, even with the extra volts my dfi can provide, i just dont want to use em... at the end of the day look at it this way...

the tccds are laid back memory, just chilling hitting 300+ at sub 3volts

the bh5 are the brawn requiring loads of steriods to get em rocking...

id get some bh5s now if i still had air cooling as i went for 120mm cpu coolers which kept the ram supercool, however with watercooling you lose ALOT of air even with unobstructive cases and youll have to actively cool em...

but tccd for me ;)

Well as you can see in the 05 thread I've been giving my fx a thrashing at nearly 3.6 despite the weather. Shame the RAM's a little held back by my PSU at the moment. Still I beat you, legend :p with ur puny bh5. Watercooling and PCP&C to follow moving up: #8 in ORB at the moment.

Also 5* rated thread for having my name in it. :D

EDIT: Just got 15397, not even worth posting.

Looks like you two are playing for a bit of pride now, who will be victorious?

Yeah that PSU will assist in the stability especially when you overclock those 7800's with watercooling.

Don't forget Dazboots and Scorchio are yet to post there new scores??

Also, I am interested to see how you do in 3dm2001 and 3dm03.

Mav

Might sound stupid, but try lower voltage Golum, some of that stuff can be really picky.

I'm at 2.8V and that probably fluctuates under load cause PSU is not up to the job (enermax 600W). Mav's 510SLi is on the way though - then I will get more from the RAM.

All I know is it looks like Gollum and The Legend are pushing their way up the tables.

Both of which are now official Padawan Learners of THE COACH!!

Given The Legend has BH5 and Gollum currently has TCCD - it's a straight battle between the rams.

Let battle commence.

TEAM EPUK 4EVA

THE COACH!!

Should have some juicy scores to post once it cools down a bit.

Been burning in me BH5 ram looks like 270Mhz @ 2-2-2-6 is just around the corner.

Look out gollum - I'm coming after ya!!
