going back to air?

im thinking of taking my A64 out of my vapochill. As its covered by gunk can i just go ahead and use the mobo and cpu just like that in a normal rig by adding a hsf?

no mate, advisable to clean the grease off the cpu and mobo prior to air cooling.

It'll insulate the bits - just like cross-channel swimmers covering themselves with grease to protect against the cold water. So, the air wont work as well extracting the heat!

Thanks! - whats best to use to clean up the asetek white gunk - alcohol? TIM cleaner? What tools?

solvents is what i used, works a treat, like a hot knife thru butter (or how ever the expression goes) ull miss the loss of power when you go back to air tho mate

well, back on air now.... Used akasa tim cleaner - nice smell! Yep - cant clock the cpu much (if at all now), oh well it needed to be done!
