Glorious Forge Pro Golden Panda Wireless Review

The yellow looks nice.

But overall it looks like a circa 2000's microsoft mouse, it's only missing the tail.

I'll stick with my G602, now that's a nice mouse.

I quite like the look of this, Nice and simple clean design... Although I'd prefer a wired option as I'm not too fond of batteries in my mice/keyboards as they all inevitably retain less and less charge over time.

Never understood where the cost comes in for these overly simplified mice. Its nice and sleek but £100 for this??? The naga mmo mouse is the same price and has better justification for its extended button options and versatility.

And as Dice mentioned, wireless with batteries? thats a massive no in 2023. Id expect this from the 2000-2010 era.

So what exactly are you referring to wireless being powered with, if not a battery? Solar panels?

Good point. I actually misread into about the battery thinking its the old method of AA/AAA. I was about to answer that typical lithium would be better, but its already using it. Friday brain shut down mode.

But you know there are many methods that could drop the battery method right? :D

Kinetic via electro generator,
Inductive charging
Resonant (magnetic) charging (slightly inefficient)

I think we already have mouse pads that charge the mouse inductively, but its limited to one small patch.

If they want to use batteries they should make replacements readily available and easy to replace, It's the main reason I don't own any wireless products, Battery degradation and nigh on all wireless products are built in a way that you cannot replace degraded batteries or even buy said batteries.

But it still uses some kind of battery, otherwise what powers it from the pad itself? :p

Accessability, easability and userability are all good points when it comes to wireless.
Hence why I like the Razer Viper mices over the competition, simply because you drop it on the stand to charge it over night, then just take it off the stand and you’re ready to rock.

The competition still uses cables, to insert the cable in order to charge it. At that point, what difference is there from just using an wired mouse if you need to plug the cable back in when to charge it? Seems like taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

But less costs more !

That's how everything is going these days. You go to a fancy restaurant, get served three good looking peas and it's £50 thanks.

Had this discussion with Mum today. I forget what the company is called but a few years ago she bought a cordless vacuum cleaner. Air Ram? something like that. It was £299 and lasted *exactly* 13 months before the battery died. "OK" said the techy in me "Let's take it apart and replace it" big fat NOPE. They didn't sell them. So off to the tip it went.

She paid around the same for her Dyson that she has had ever since. New battery every two years = £25.

And yeah you are correct, Lithium = bad. Really bad for the people (or should I say children) mining it and even worse when aunt fanny chucks it in the bin and it ends up in the landfill.

Edit. G tech. G tech air ram.

With all this wireless and battery talk, I love my Logitech G Pro mouse. Best mouse I've ever used. The battery has lasted me over a month of use before getting down to 30%. I will say however I turn the rgb lights down low to extend life. No need for them.

When you are done with the PC, plug in mouse, let charge for 60 minutes, it's full. Next time you come back unplug and enjoy wireless. I see 0 reason to get a wired mouse these days(not comparing to cheap mice). The benefits of no drag from the wire I cannot understate enough how much of a difference it made to me. That and the speed being identical to wired, makes it worth it.

I get where you are coming from, but at that point, I see the mouse as wired, cause that's what it essentially. Especially since you can also use it wired.

I don't understand why they just didn't make an stand for it to rest and charge on, which also acts as the receiver for the mouse, would be much more simplified solution overall. That's the main reason for loving my Razer Viper Ultimate myself. Even though the quality overall has one desire for a bit more... Have already needed to RMA it twice within a year due to the rubber on the scroll wheel gotten loose.

Not wired at all. During use it's not wired. You plug in once a month if not less depending how often you use it. That's hardly wired.

If you have a charging while in use mouse with a pad, cool. Hardly an advantage imo

A month I wouldn’t say, that’s down to you have lowered the RGB lights basically. Without doing that, it wouldn’t last more than a week. Have a friend who tested this.

There's no reason to run it full tilt though and more than likely with static mode (using breathing where it turns on and off also extendeds life). Regardless even if you did, plugging it in takes 3 seconds, unplugging takes 1. 4 seconds a week of wired I would not considered it to be a "wired" mouse. When it's wired it's not in use. If you use it will it's charging exclusively then sure it makes no sense to purchase such a device.

There's really no good argument against modern wireless higher end mice. Batteries last long(generally), they are as fast in response, and no cord to get tangled or create drag while moving your hand.

In regards to charging pads, afaik they don't work to well while you use the mouse but obviously it charges while not in use. That's the next logical upgrade over say a G Pro, but I don't consider a 4 second inconvenience to be a massive downgrade.

I got nothing against wired mice and I still own plenty of them and use them, just not for gaming.

True, yet again as my point above, still don't get why didn't just make a stand for it, like the Viper Ultimate. It uses magnets to be put in place and then chargers the mouse. The stand also acts as the receiver.

Feels very old to still needing to plug in a cord to charge the mouse, when we're in 2023.

You still need a cord though. Regardless of wireless or not 1 cord will always be used. Whether it's for the mouse or charging pad of some sort, there's a cord. I don't think it feels old but then again I've been using cords my whole life. The benefit using no mount means you can use it while charging whereas you cannot with the Viper. It's personal preference at that point and what you value most. There's no wrong answer.

To make it more convenient you can purchase a magnetic charging port and use it on the front of a g pro and it makes the act of plugging in hands free, if that's something you or anyone else is interested in. Should be included for it's price but it is what it is as they say
