GlobalFoundries announces their 7nm FinFET technology

Well that's true, at this moment, getting it down to that physical size without using a larger process is just insanely expensive. This is also another reason Intel is still in the lead despite what everyone thinks about Samsung being equal to them. As Intel makes it's own chips and what they say is 14nm, really is 14nm(also why they are getting more expensive). Which is why they are planning for 10nm chips to last them a long time as anything smaller really just is not doable. Unlike everyone else who uses 10nm for everything but a few critical transistors and is why can classify it as smaller.
