Gigabyte's Aorus RTX 3080 & 3090 Xtreme GPUs appear to be 4-slot monsters

She would say that there is no such thing as too thick. :)

Most of the people have only GPU in PCI-E slots. If they are cool as a result I don't see a problem.

I don't think I'd want that hanging off my MB, Think I'd have to go vertical or watercooled with that beast

A lot of the larger Aorus cards ship with support arms. I'd imagine that this will ship with one too.
Those metal brackets that bolt on the back of the case like on Lightning don't help much. Galax HoF had support rods that did the job properly.

I don't know what kind of supports Gigabyte will ship, but Zotac style rod supports would be great.

Silly idea of the day :

Start using all the PCI-E connectors for : Additional mount-stability, more data paths and the 75 watts of power from each.

I mean, if you are hanging over the slots anyway - why not put them to use?

Off you go, little engineers. Work.

not all MB's have slots in the same place, and all you'd need is 2mm out and they wouldn't connect to the sockets

I still don't get the obsession about including GPU brackets. You can cut a piece of acrylic for next to nothing, or print a figurine to prop it up and make a feature in your case.

Lian li has one of the best solutions. It is quite genious.

That's cool but wouldn't work with my motherboard as it has coverings over some of the screws.

I personally like the GPU brackets especially when they are custom for that card.

I think the mentality here is that if you are going to drop £1800 on a card. Why should you then have to provide your own GPU support.

Personally I liked the idea of getting a support bracket. I had it with my Gaming X TRio, shame it looks terrible.

I prefer the fact that all cases these days should provide a vertical GPU option to alleviate the need of any kind of support. Although it means you then have to get a riser cable, but well... the whole point of these fancy coolers is that you can see them!

However, I did like this idea.

Which would look awful with any kind of support. An adjustable bracket with a mirror attached.

Why not use more than 2 slots for the PCIe case slots since the card blocks them fully anyway? An internal/hidden by the shroud rod from the furthest case slot from the PCIe port would support the weight well I'd think.
I know the 2 case PCIe slot bracket is for ITX form factor compatibility but what ITX case has only 2 slots with clearance internally for a full 4 slot card size?

Exactly. Gigabyte have put their money where their mouth is in confirming SLI is gone. So better to utilize that extra space.

They'll need something fitting the etymology of Aorus, aka. tied to ancient gods.

Probably a miniature marble pillar from Pantheon would be strong enough.
