Man I love the new look of these Gigabyte boards! Makes me want to buy one just for that! About time they fancied up their boards a little. I know we're not supposed to care about such frivolous things but I cant help myself.

Looks good as the latest ad on the side panels of the forum too. Nicely done Gigabyte!

Quick Question ...

Good review ... reading through I noticed this complaint:

"In fact the only thing we dislike is the vertical SATA ports which, regardless of price-point, are unacceptable."

Not the first time I've seen this but as a newb I have no idea why this is a problem ... can anyone elucidate? Thanks, in advance.

It's just a matter of making the computer looking cleaner/better cable management and with vertical SATA ports you can't do it as easy. Performance is exactly the same if you were worried by that.

Looks nice, but I have to say I have lost some confidence in Gigabyte recently. Their UEFI bios upgrades for slightly older boards (which are admittedly Beta..) are junk with less functionality than the BIOS. Also, after 3 years of service my GA-Z68XP-UD3 shat itself for no good reason.

I know all manufacturers have boards that fail, but it does cause you to lose confidence when it happens to you personally. DOA is sometimes expected and accepted, but a failure after a few years...
