What I want is heatsinks on a motherboard that can be customized! So it can be any colour we want it to be!

Red and Black is becoming too common!

I said the exact same thing in the MSI x99 Gaming board thread and everyone who replied agreed. In fact; everyone that has ever heard the idea agreed.

Why is no manufacturer doing this yet?

And I stand by the fact that it's weird they're releasing Gaming series boards for a Productivity platform now.

Why did they switch from green to red on their G1 mobos?

Green>>>>>>>>>>>>red

( only talking about colous, no amd vs nvidia sh*t involved )

I don't see a problem with red and black, my rig is red and black, my OCD cave is red and black, my bike is red and black and the same goes for my president and my Maybach.

Also I think its fair that every manufacturer does it, why the hell not everyone should benefit from the added performance and epeen having a red and black product brings.

BUT, I do think surely having a red and black product at a similar price point and feature set to a ROG product is just futile, they are never going to win that sale because nobody else makes a board or card that looks as good as ROG, well they do but it's never going to steal the heart of the fanboys. Everyone needs to express their own identity when it comes to the range topping or gaming orientated boards. I'm a big fan of the Lightning/MPower stuff and the OCForce and if it were me i'd be trying to push those kinds of original designed solid products at the same audience as the ROG stuff.

Now it looks to me like that is what MSI and Gigabyte are doing, these X99 chaps i'd expect are coming in a few rungs below the Rampage V Extreme and will perhaps be a little more competitive, that seems fair to me. Obviously that's a speculative statement as we don't know the entire X99 fleet yet but I think everyone should lay off the red and black beef just until we have a bigger picture.

I do like the whole RGB or switchable heatsink idea BUT i prefer to see a really carefully considered aesthetic with fully co-ordinated ports and slots, I think an all black board with a couple of clip on dashes and flares would look really weak at the side of a ROG or MPower board.

Perhaps more thermal armor designs which are easily moddable are what we should be asking for?

I'd also like to see a metal themed motherboard, I mean like a gold/copper/nickel board that wasn't stupid but really carefully considered like an Alphacool component or an Essence STX.

Still on the fence as to whether X99 will be my next upgrade or not.

I'm likely to get a Gigabyte board though given how reliable they've been for me over the years. Although granted all my Gigabyte boards have all been AMD, the only Intel board I've ever had was the original Asus X48 Rampage Formula which gave me no end of trouble.

I most certainly wouldn't go for this one though, since for me I don't see the point in gaming motherboards. It'll be a more standard X99 Gigabyte board I'd be eying.

I am curious which colour theme they will use on UD series. Gaming Series black and red is not that kind i would like to use on my next rig. Its too mainstream nowdays.

I wonder if the chipset heat sink is supposed to be like that, or if it was designed to be placed horizontally, but then they rotated it. It would not surprise me from Gigabyte, because we have seen upside down text on GPU backplates...

Can we just have plain black with a selection of heatsink covers/stickers, like how ASUS do their high end DCUIIs?

Lol, this is starting to remind me of phonebloks. Lets have MoboBloks! Wouldnt a modular motherboard be awesome, though :D

it just makes me think of corsairs fans with the clip on bits. it cant be that hard to keep the lights on the mobo white , have a plain mobo with some little clip on coloured accents really ^_^

They don't want us to have a chance modding their board without losting the warranties...:)

Anyway this is a good idea that those heatsinks should have some changeable parts wich can be easily painted to your favorite colour.:)
