"At the time, we were told that the firm was working on such a solution. It appears that the company has made significant progress, as the first picture of such a solution has reached our offices. The board, currently named "GA-8N-SLI Quad", shows four PCI Express slots that can be occupied by SLI-compatible graphics cards. According to sources, Gigabyte found a way to combine two nForce4 SLI chipsets on one platform. Interestingly, the board integrates two different versions of the chipset - the nForce4 SLI Intel Edition (Crush 19) represents the Northbridge, the version for AMD processors is used as Southbridge."

"First, the GA-8N-SLI Quad will be able to work with two Gigabyte 3D1 dual-GPU cards and make an additional three PCI Express slots available. The second option is to use single-GPU SLI graphics card in each of the four slots. This translates to a support of either two x16 or four x8 PCI Express slots. "

Very interesting but what sort of PSU would u need to have 4 6800s in there or even future graphics tech :eek:

the worrying thing is ATi's 'crossfire system may be able to support 32 GPUs @ 1 time;

It seems the PC is getting more and more massively parallel with multiple CPU cores and Multiple GPUs, IMO its about time too now all we need is software that will work with these new technologies with ease

This is stupid. Graphics cards are already far ahead of CPU's - having 4x 6800's would be a total waste of money!!

Cool - very cool.

I agree with Joe.

Two concerns here:

Power: How many PSU's are we gonna end up needing?? :eek:

Software/Games: Is there going to be anything out there capable of actually stressing this hardware or even utilising it properley? :(

It would be nice if they provided the high end graphics cards with their own transformer packs that allowed you to plug the card directly into the mains (Like the old Voodoo5's used to do).

i remember them but that would cost the graphics company more <or hike up the price> but since the draw of a 6800 is between 77 - 120 watts those transformers would need to be activley cooled , yuck small buzzing fans

Here's a picture of the aforementioned board. It has Intel-only support and seems to be able to either go with 2 x Gigabyte's Dual GPU GFX card or 4 x SLi enabled GFX cards.
