Looks like an X399 version of the Aorus Xtreme which looks great; but for god sake why make "Gamer" motherboards for what is clearly a workstation/professional platform?

I hope the reveal will be tomorrow after 9am Eastern Daylight Time. The 7th for 7nm Threadripper. Sounds logical.

Yes, that is the more sensible group. Doesn't change the fact that quite a few buy them for gaming since they want "the best".

Well HEDT users can still game on the side, it's just the gaming specific ones make little sense. Outside of the people who game for a living and render stuff for YT.

That seems to have died out now tbh. Rare to see any new builds on the net, let alone Uber high end ones.
One of my hobbies used to be splitting up a CPU in VMware and running multiple oses at once. That's why I always get bargain bin ES Xeons for the sheer core counts. I really must get back into that. I love ex industry gear tbh and playing with it trying to make it do what it shouldn't.
But yeah, TR is amazing for those who don't want to spend £7k on a highly threaded locked Xeon.
I might go Threadripper myself. I'm finding the lack of PCIE lanes bothersome.
It still sticks in my craw that Intel decided to segment the market just to screw enthusiasts starting with X99. In the X79 days, you could get a CPU with 40 PCIE lanes at the entry level on a quad core chip (i7-3820k). AMD could have stuck a serious thorn in Intels paw if they had stuck with more PCIE lanes on X370, but sheep that they are, they just followed suit and did their own HEDT thing. It bugs the hell out of me that I can do something on a 7 year old desktop that I CANNOT do on a modern non-HEDT system, run 2 GPUs at PCIE 16x / 16X. Hell I can do that on my Rampage IV Gene (which is MATX), and I still have a full X8 slot left over. I could do triple SLI at 8x / 8x / 8x, not that it's useful. Rant over, LOL!

Yeah that sucked. I don't know why they did that. All of my ES have 40 lanes.
The only thing I lose is clock speed, but, I gain massive reliability and stability. I've never had so much as a burp out of these ES and one is really early.
I can't afford to go TR. I would love to, but yeah it's just out of my league. So I feel like I've got the next best thing tbh.
