Hi,

I have a Gigabyte GA-Z68XP UD4 (link) and the back panel audio out isen't working. I've been fine up till now using my front port audio but as it has now broken on my 400r i have no sound :( I've looked at buying a sound card but i was wondering if their is an easy fix?
Thanks

Did this happen randomly, or after you've made any adjustments to you pc? Hardware or software wise...

(I once broke the onboard audio by accidentally poking a GPU PCI bracket in the motherboard )

The back panel audio never worked from the start, when i got it new! Nope i haven't changed a thing, is there some sort of driver for it, as it dosen't recognize anything in the Realtek Auido Software

Well, you could try the driver disc that came with the board. Otherwise go on Gigabyte's website and download them off there?

Yeah dude you have to install the drivers and software for them to work :p

(like with most of the other things on the board)

I've tried everything all the latest drivers are installed, the drivers are all installed at its recognizes the input now but wont play any sound!

Just making sure but... Are you sure that your mainboard is the issue? Maybe there's something wrong with your speakers? :L

Nope i've tried them on my laptop and phone plus also used my headphones and no luck. This is a new MB only a couple of months old :/

Hmm, if it's been like that from the start and you're certain that it is indeed the motherboard itself that's broken...

You could try to do a bios update, although I seriously doubt this would help anything at all. Otherwise I'd just RMA that board

What colour have you got them plug into on the mobo and which device is selected in the windows sound manager?

I'm looking on the help section on the gigabyte website but nothing.
I'm using the Green plug and saying its rear audio out then i tried the black on saying it was headphones still no luck! :(

Make sure your computer is unplugged and remove the connector for front panel audio. This is an either/or switch. You cant use both, at least in my experience with Gigabyte mainboards.

Once the connector is removed the back panel should work fine. If it doesn't, do as suggested before and RMA the board, assuming you still have the reciept.
