Gigabyte GTX 780 Ti OC or Asus R9 290X DCU II?

Gigabyte GTX 780 Ti Windforce OC = £530
Asus R9 290X DCU II = £500

at these price points I really can't decide what to go for! I've only had problems with Nvidia in a long distant past, but, the 290X's seem to have quite odd issues of their own at the moment (I'm sure it's normal for everyone to have issues mind.)

But considering both of them are so closely priced, would it make more sense to go for the GTX if I plan on watercooling/overclocking them too?

If watercooling i would go for the Asus 290 card. EK are making a custom block for it so you get a better pcb and components compared to reference and therefore better overclocks.

780 Ti all the way, I love this card so much I'm getting another for SLI and skipping the 8xx series, Bring on stacked DRAM in 2015 :)

780 Ti, I hope you're running above 1920x1080 too. Meh, I would go for the reference 780 Ti, without that lovely black cooler, I wouldn't want to know.

stacked dram in 2015? isn't stacked vram coming with the next family, i.e. volta?
don't think that will happen in 2015 already.

You guys know he's going to put it under water right? The 290x pulls ahead under water.

link me some benchmarks for that, all i could find was some LTT thread, but there were no results.

I was originally wanting to buy a reference card, but it seems a good number of them have issues, being hard reset/black screens. :/

I feel like waiting till Mantle flexes it's muscles to see how it does... but I dunno.

Either cards are fine but i would expect a better overclock on the DCU2.
Mantle? You will love it!

Must of gotten some bad info then, Oh well at least I'll have quite a big performance leap going from the 7xx series to the 9xx series :)
