hey i am curious what difference a more expensive motherboard will make for gaming. clearly i intend to put a video card in as opposed to using onboard video, however (other than extra ports and more PCI slots), what advantage will i gain out of a more expensive motherboard in terms of gaming?

Possibly better overclocking pottential - but apart from that, not much really.

Cheaper boards may be a bit slower in benches but in most cases the difference isn't noticable.

I find it seems to be the other way around. In a lot of mobo competitions the value/basic/cheap models seem to pull ahead in benches but fall behind in OC.. meh.
