Ghosting or overheating?

I just got a samsung 205BW and now whenever I play CS:S it feels like it's lagging but whenever I see my fps it seems normal...whenever I go to desktop to check the temp of my GPU while experiencing this it's at 68-74 celcius. Also, sometimes my computer just freezes hard and wont reset unless I hit the button. So I'm thinking this is all caused by the GFX over heating since one time some red stuff started appearing on my monitor (happened on my old one too). I have a 7600 GT XXX edition so I'm thinking of pairing it with a Zalman VF900 or 700 with an exhaust fan. So do you guys think it's ghosting or over heating? My reasons for saying its over heating are because, last night I played fine with the monitor on CSS with HIGHER settings than right now. I can watch action movies (Troy) fine and this over heating maybe caused by the increase in resolution from 1280x1024 to 1680x1050. So do you guys suggest that I should get a fan for my 7600 GT XXX? If so, the VF900 or 700? Also who wnats to gimme a birthday present :D lol

Thanks! =]

Well, it may be because those cards arent meant for that high of a res (7900xx woudl be ok), but an Arctic Cooling nV Silencer 6 would be the best option imo.

My dad has one on his one surviving 7600GT XXX by XFX, and his temps are about 54*C load. His other one, well.... went up in flames.

Got the second one in today, put in mobo all happy for SLi. Fire it up, all is good. PC turns off. Hmm, so you naturally fire it back up. My friend goes, "dude, is there supposed to be an LED on that card?" HOLY CRAP ITS ON FIRE!!

Sorry a bit off topic. :o

^ made my day with that pic lol! *checks GFX card* but yea so SLI would be smart but see I can't afford 160 dollars unless you have any other ways to get it. lol

Hhaah, I'm glad it made your day. Made ours too, we were all cracking up. (Me, my Dad & my friend Matt).

Should have whipped out the marshmellows haha. There seriously was a flame, it was nuts. I was kind of dumb-founded too, I didn't turn off the PC until I could see it burning through the back of the PCB (3-5 seconds)

*Nick has scared the hell outta me* *brings fire extinguisher into room just in case..*

Ok, yea but seirously lol I can't decide now first of all, I had an NV Silencer 6 on it previosuly and it didnt cool all that well and it broke =[ So that's why I am leaning toward a Zalman and it includes ram sinks too ^^. But now you've put me into a dilema, I was thinking about not upgrading my card till DX10 comes out and just put a nice cooler and keep OCing it till it catches fire. Lol, but yea I think I really need some airflow management in my case. I need an NZXT Lexa like now.

That card is perfectly fine at that res... Sounds like you possibly just need some better cooling. Do you have the card overclocked at all?

Its the XXX so its factory OCed frag.

And i blew up/set on fire a 7800GT. Got it repaired and now its sitting in Jiffz rig, afaik its doign great.

Ok yea Frag your right cause I played some CS 1.6 yesterday for like an hour straight nd my card didn't even hit the 60s so yea I'm pretty sure I need better cooling loll. But I don't know possibly could my card be defective? Even with a Silecer 6 on it it was still pretty damn hot...50s-60s...should zalmans perform better?
