Getting back SSD performance

Hi Guys, in my old laptop (soon to go in my new one), I have a 128gb corsair SSD that's a few years old. It used to be nice and quick, but the performance recently has been very poor. It's got the latest firmware on it etc. and because I run XP I use the optimise program every few weeks (sends a TRIM command because XP doesn't support TRIM). There is about 25gb free space on the disk at the mo and it never goes below about 20gb free space.

Any ideas on how to revive the performance? Or is it just fecked and I need a new one?

Cheers :)

You can download Parted Magic and do a secure erase. What model drive is it? I find doing this once a year helps my SSD's. You will get some performance back.

The corsair SSD toolbox software can tell you the drive's health and even update the frimware. Though with 128gb sized SSD it should not go below 25.6GB of storage. You always want to keep more than 20% of the drive free to prevent overwriting to the nand blocks and wearing them out quicker. So you are right on that limit. IMO its probably better to sell it off for some cash then get a bigger sized drive, they are not that expensive now a days. If you must keep it then if possible to do a full format then do that. It should help get some speed back.
