Would this be any good?? or which would be better

help please as I think that the TwinMOS is crap

Corsairs XMS3500C2 ive read on the ocuk forums that these memory chips are BH-5. OcUK only sell them as single 256 sticks tho. im also lookin 4 sum good ram 4 overclockin. tryin 2 find 2x512 bh-5 sticks

OCZ 512MB (2x256MB) PC3500 Dual Channel EL-DDR ECC Registered CAS2 (MY-027-CS) £153 from overclokers.co.uk

Humm.. Dont have that kind of money at the mo.. :(

Geil are extremely good value for money, not as fast as OCZ but since no one can no longer get BH-5.

I have GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC4000 Ultra Series CAS2.5, cost me £200 6 months ago and do at least 275FSB with a CL of 2.5, unfortunatelly my CPU craps out around that. I don't think anyone else was offering sticks rated to do 250FSB at CL2.5 6 months ago.

do you rate them????
Yes, not as nice as OCZ but they are £82 cheaper (70% the price) than the equivelently rated OCZ ones and still do a nice overclock. That wasn't even the Golden Dragon ones. (Comparing my sticks here)

I have also built a couple of machines with the Geil value stick and have had no problems with them. Have to say there packaging was great.

I guess with the PC3500 then you might not be able to get the timings as super tight as BH5 or OCZ, but then it is really up to you on how much you want to pay for the difference. Really you need to find out what people have managed to get from these sticks, I know Geil likes a good dose of volts.

I have got TwinMOS at the mo and I am unsure if its any good.

I dont seem to be able to get my FSB higer then 234 at the mo

May sound really stoopid but have you run a memtest on the TwinMOS Epicurus?

I only ask because I went through about 4 sets of 1Gb Dual Channel DDR400 and even at stock it came up with loads of errors, and they needed about 3v just to keep them error free at stock  Changed over to 1Gb Corsair XMS TwinX Pro DDR500 now and these things kick ass, only prob is the price, at near £280 they not cheap.

I would rate the GeIL Golden Dragon 3500 sticks, my mate bought some and got me to test the max OC on them, can't remember what it was but they didn't crap out at anything I could throw at them with 3v shoved up em. I would agree with walnuts and wait till you have more money to buy the good stuff to save being dissapointed with half good stuff.

Trouble with memtest86 is sometimes the CPU can be the cause of the errors. For instance I get errors at 276FSB whatever divider I choose.

Still a good tool though and one I use all the time.

Have my Geil at 3.1v at the moment.

Yea I did think of that so I reset the board and everything to stock, still came up with loads of errors. Even tried it in my mates P4 machine and the same thing happened. Just thought he may be unlucky like me and have dodgey RAM from the start.

Boardy

get some Geil PC3500 Ultra, me and gorby have some, he has his (with a voltmod - 3.3v) running at 292FSB! he reckons if he mods the 3V line of his PSU to 3.5 v he cud get arround 300FSB, considering these chips aint winbound and are only 433 at stock, around the 600 mark is pretty damn good! Should be much cheaper than OCZ stuff also :P

only the corsair rev 1.1 were bh5...they are all ch 5 after that...so be carefull what you listen...and always double check before spending your money...

as i said it depends on someones system on what memory is best suited...

on his max stable cpu fsb etc...

i would wait for the 3700EB personally... ;)

On my MB i can put the CPU to 1.7v and the mem to 2.9v and the agp to 2.8v

am I safe puting the votls to the max here???

Mate i cant get that high 1:1. Above 230 odd i stick the divider on. Its 5:4 so memory is 234 mhz (468 ddr) @ 292 fsb wich is still pretty good for 213 mhz sticks.
