Gaming monitor

I have a 21.5" Acer LED monitor, It is very thin and has a small bezel which is very important if you are planning on doing multiple screens. Refresh rates can also be important depending on the use it is required for. 60hz or 120hz are the number of times the monitor will refresh in a second. If you want to do 3d then you will need to use 120hz monitors.

What will you be using it for? If you give us more information about what you want to do then we can give you a more in depth answer.

^ you only need 60Hz for 3-d mode

I have an LED 3D monitor from BenQ and it is fantastic, proper matte coating, nice controls, and great colour and brightness

really? all the 3d monitors I have found are 120hz?

Yes, that is the recommended refresh rate from nvidia, but when you set up the 3d vision, it gives you options for 60,75,80 and 120Hz. They recommend 120Hz because headaches are less likely the higher you get

Ohh OK thanks for that telling me that, I was under the impression that 120hz was minimum

It is definitely my recommended minimum! It sucks when you get 30 fps each eye. Insta-headache.

I have the VG278H and it is an incredible monitor. If you have the money, you should look into it.

if you plan on playing lots of different fps games then a 120hz monitor is what id recommend. the faster refresh makes the game a little smoother on the eye and thus easy to hit fast moving targets..

I have recently bought a benq xl2410t from amazon and its a very very good monitor. 24 inch full hd 120hz, 2ms response time all for less than 300e delivered cant go wrong with that. oh and its 3d ready too.

It was a tossup for me, either the BenQ XL2420TX or the ASUS VG278H... but I like the large 27" screen size so I bought the ASUS.

When I was deciding between the xl2410t and the xl2420t they are pretty much the same monitor, only real difference is the 20 has touch sensitive buttons on the side and mouse thingy to control the osd and a black equalizer. All of which you really don't need. The price difference seems to be near 100e between them so if you can justify spending the extra money then go for the 20 but I couldn't so went for the 10 and I am very happy with it.

I am not up to date with the asus monitor so can't comment on that.

As I have had extensive game time on both BenQ monitors, I must say that there is a massive visual difference between the 2410 and 2420. While the 2410 is still a great monitor, the aesthetics and functionality of the 2420 is only the beginning. The backlight on the 2420 is, for the most part, more even and bleeding is rare. The colors are also more vivid in certain modes, as well as more accurate for editing. It also offers a slightly larger panel and lightboost technology which is unbelievably better.

The 2410 also has more issues with color accuracy as well as inverse ghosting in 3D mode.

On a side note... does anyone know if it is possible to get enable 120hz using onboard graphics only, and not a video card?

48hz CRT! My samsung CRT is also 3d ready. No joke, there are a lot of CRT monitors that can use the 3d function via Nvidia, there is a list somewhere on the internet. 48hz 24hz each eye = the headache of a lifetime!

benq xl2420t for single monitor gaming for me. Got mine on release for ~£270. They seem to be around £300 now ;D!

Triple monitor gaming.. nothing would satisfy me yet. Bezels too thick.

There's also an interesting korean monitor - yamakasi catleap. 27'' 100hz IPS panel.
